I once did Rage as a play in theatre, it was fun, an easy but dark think to play. ;)

Wow! Very dark…but I can imagine it working well as a play

It's been a good decade or so since i last reread it: I'm up to 3 times, so far. I first read it as part of The Bachman Books compendium: as a then young man who'd only been out of high school 5 or 10 years (but wasn't in the same era as King would've been), i still could relate to alot of it, even understood Charlie's pettiness and immaturity, though not agree with it: it was early King letting us look inside a mind not fully mature enough to understand its failings...much like Todd from Apt Pupil. i enjoyed the story ( i must, ive read it two times just because) and if were heavy into rankings, it'd be middle of the pack; no where near his worst, but also not quite amongst his best. For what it's worth, i think he made the decision to drop it from future publication because it would be a move that might give him comfort and safety...peace of mind. Obviously the book doesn't necessarily glorify what Charlie did...but it was beginning to look like some who read it might be...and that's got to be an awful thing to weigh upon one. Besides...it's a boon for all second hand book stores

Well, he explained why he pulled it as I covered in this video - he felt it had the potential to hurt people. Very understandable really

I actually just read Rage for the first time this month. I didn't think it was a bad book. Do I think it should've been unpublished? No. It's like trying to place blame on somewhere else. Like saying oh the video games made me do it. But I definitely have respect that he do and it still stands by it.

I remember reading this from the library in the 90's. You had to suspend disbelief (like with the combo lock in the pocket), but it was an interesting story. No clue how this book would spawn actual school shootings though considering the ending.

Yeah, I agree - but can also understand why King felt compelled to pull it

Are there any books you wouldn't re read? I've read 60 so far and there's probably 40 I would not re read again.

Good question! If I wasn’t doing the reread, I would probably skip Roadwork, The Talisman, The Tommyknockers, Four Past Midnight, Fairy Tale and all the Holly Gibney books

I'm assuming The Losers Club podcast would consider King's line about a frigid wife as poundcake.

Maybe…I think it would more likely be in the nightmares part of nightmares and dreamscapes
