Come with us on a rescue and relocation of a young, female grey seal pup.
Seal pups will often need to rest and will take time out of the water to build their energy back up and digest their food. We are so lucky to be able to share our beaches and oceans with such an abundance of animals.
It is so important when encountering wild animals to observe them from as far away as possible, the beach is their safe space and place to rest. Pup disturbance is a real issue and can result in abandonment if you get too close. Pop dogs on leads and avoid walking on the beach if you know a pup is there.
If you think a pup needs help, the best thing to do is contact the Cornish Seal Sanctuary on 01326 221361 or British Divers Marine Life Rescue on 01825 765546. DO NOT APPROACH. Our teams will assess the pup and decide if it needs to come in for care.
