I love your approach of restore rather than replace. You could buy new seat covers and a carb but the old ones are perfectly serviceable. What happened to your brother's explanation?

Wish I never sold my 2cv, but a heart attack ment I couldn’t complete it.. now 2 years on I’ve got a TVR Chimaera to restore, but due to work etc it hasn’t got very far!

As you said Johnny ,those engines are so light,I remember seeing 2 cv Racing in the 80’s here in France,found it amazing seeing guys repairing / servicing engines on the picnic tables ,while eating sandwiches,drinking a bit of red wine,as you do.

Another great update on the progress of the 2CV Jonny, it's certainly progressing well. It will be interesting to see an insurance assessor having a look at her when she's finished for a valuation given that apart from the 'slightly' patinated exterior she's mint. A great job team and thanks for sharing, I look forward to the next instalment.

Great series! Makes me wish I hadn't painted my mk1 golf during the sort-of-kind-of restoration. As for regrets while you applied the foam, I had the same feeling with regards to the headliner material for the mk1...now to replace it I must take the windshield and rear windows out. Who has time for that these days :)

Why do I love those basic balls of steel, I don't know but I do. It feels like a non intimidating kind of project for someone with limited mechanics knowledge as long as you do 1 field by 1 field quietly. I bet you could teach teenagers on one of those 🐌 & have them having fun doing it. Thanks for continuing the series.

Patina isn't rust if it's caught and preserved. There are levels of rust, but I am particular about removing rot.
