Admittedly, I was drawn into this movie to see the main cast all together in one room. I was excited to see the interactions with Jill and Leon. I really would love to see Sherry Birkin return at some point. I was a bit confused as to Jills appearance in this one. I understand that she hasn't aged as much as the others due to her regenerative abilities from her former infections however, after her infection from the RE5 her appearance changed. He skin tone lightened and her hair turned blonde. Capcom touched on this as it is a medical possibility that due to infection and trauma, the body genes can change/mutate and unlock dormant or recessive genes. This is what caused her appearance to change. In saying that her hair wouldn't just turn blonde, it would start growing out blonde. I do prefer her dark hair look, but I'd have liked for then to touch on that detail as her change in appearance in RE5 did suprise a lot of fans. Is Capcom retconing blonde Jill, or does Jill colour her hair back to a similar colour as a way of avoiding the trauma of what Wesker did to her?

I really liked this movie, probably because fanservice works on me. Seeing these characters I love interact with one another was such a treat, especially Leon and Jill. I also really liked the villain. The parallel between his trauma of killing his friend by beating him to death and him hitting his cane on the ground repeatedly genuinely had my jaw drop. His reasons may have been generic but I really enjoyed his backstory and his dialogue with the cast. My only complains are Chris' voice acting being sub par compared to the others and the characters not looking their age, which I'm sure you've heard others complain about. As mixed Vendetta was. There was much more to remember and too like to me. Arias felt more like a threatening villan and didn't literally explain every characters issues that the fanbase complain about. The action scenes were way better than in this one. Felt a lot of times there was just to much exposition than anything. The music was also kind of mixed, it felt way to much like an avengers movie because of the music. RE vendettas music actually felt more suspenceful and added to tension. Also appericated that they aged Leon and Chris approriately, you can see they continued that in this movie. I can't say the same at all for Rebecca, Claire or Jill. Maria wanting revenge with Leon didn't make any sense considering Chris was the one who killed her dad. As great as it was to have returning character there screen time was limited. Like Rebecca actually had barely any screen time, honestly forgot she was in the movie majority of the time. Jill also was my biggest gripe, she is way to similar to her snarky attidute in Re3 remake. Jills character from games prior the remake has always been Level headed and calm. Not someone who constantly bad mouths everyone and she hardly ever swears. There are things to like in this film, Matt mercer as Older leon again is still perfect. He does it just to well and fits way better, every scene with leon is a great one (Nick is perfect as young Leon). Jills chemistry with Leon is also great. That's about it to be honest.

Completely agree… the way I see it- the creators were heavily dependent on the whole “Protagonists Reunion” hype to carry the entire movie forward and didn’t put much effort into the writing, character development, animation (as Avalanche stated) and everything else. The movements (running, jumps) from the characters during the final showdown looked awful and didn’t help the entire battle feel like an urgent situation. And I completely agree with the issue regarding Jill (they really did NOT have to resort to her to using her terrible RE3 Remake look when adding her into the movie).

I enjoyed this film for the most part but it felt a little too silly at times like...what the fuck is Leon made of? I know these characters go through a lot generally but you can not tell me he's not Captain America in this movie, that chick was super strong and she kicks the absolute shit out of him and he somehow doesn't even have broken bones and just keeps getting up to freaking melee her, even though he's been thrown in to walls and metal objects and whatnot. All the main characters just felt way too invincible and then that final battle at the end was just way too insane, like not only are they all super soldiers but they must have Domino from X-Men's luck ability as well with the amount of falling debris that just happens to miss them. Honestly I think big monster fights are just kinda weak, it's always a slow lumbering beast that's just a big tank, I wish the main bad guy just turned in to something more Tyrant sized so he was a bit faster and still required the team effort. The bad guys plan was also really dumb. I'm going off memory here but couldn't the drones infect literally anyone he wanted and yet he decided it made more sense to end the world rather than just take out the corporations he hates? Like I get that he's the bad guy and all but it felt like one of those villain motivations where they realized "Wait a minute people will agree with this" so they had to pull the whole Kick The Dog manoeuvre to pull him back in to being pure evil...but as always it just made him seem kind of stupid. But yeah it was a fun flick, I'd give it a 6/10. I honestly couldn't even be bothered finishing Infinite Darkness and I can barely remember the other CG movies so it certainly felt like a step up. All in all I wish these movies would have an affect on canon so it felt like the events in them actually mattered.

Here is something that bothers me about Death Island. Jill's return and trauma aren't the central themes, there barely even a side plot. Jill isn't even treated as a significant side-charter in a movie that really should be exploring how she is dealing with being back in the field after all she has been through. Instead, it focuses on a random former umbrella operative who has a plan to take over the world with what is left of the Vendetta cast. Jill should have been the main focus Plus it is obvious Capcom didn't do their research and lore checking when they made this movie, as things like Chris's gun- the samurai edge made by Blue Umbrella- should not be here as they contradict what we know about the world, B.S.A.A started working with Blue Umbrella in 2017 the movie is set in 2015, and also Terra-save tags orcas now for some reason. A lot of the things in the movie feel slapped in with little thought or reasoning behind them besides it either looked cool or they needed to advance the plot somehow. Also, some of these things had huge wasted plot potential. Take Jill's Samurai, It's here A1 model according to a movie pamphlet but they used the original model by accident, for instance. Not only is this the first time a samurai edge has appeared in a staring role of a re product since I think 5, but it could have been used as a wonderful foil for Jill's trauma. Imagine the gun-range scene where Chris is surprised to see the old gun and asks Jill why she has it. She eventually relents that it's because it grounds her and reassures her that she isn't still in Africa under Wesker's control, as Wesker would never bother to retrieve or bother with such a small detail as making her think she has her original samurai edge. During the prison outbreak, after Jill loses the gun, and never retrieves it or goes looking for it for the rest of the film. It is just gone, she could have looked back up at the hole she jumped through or at the gun Leon gave her and looked conflicted and uncomfortable as she had lost one of her grounding elements. Finally, as she is running off after Dylan she finds her samurai edge in the prison and ends up picking it back up. Finally during the final confirmation with the mutated Dylan, as she is baiting him while Chris and Leon get the rocket launcher ready, she ends up confronting him and saying that she understands what Dylan went through as she levels her gun at him. That she has lost friends too to these horrible creatures that governments and corporations keep creating despite everything they do to try and stop it. She has lost people from the B.S.A.All the way back to Raccoon City as the camera pans across the S.T.A.R.S engraving on the guns slide. But she says like hell will she tarnish their memory and sacrifice by using them as an excuse to burn the entire world, and that she'll keep fighting so that maybe one day what happened to them, what happened to her will never happen again, as she fires seven rounds into Dylan and dives into the water. I have a lot more of these but I think I'll save them for my own review jis Also, it is 2015 nobody in the movie still knows what a zombie is even though bio-terrorism is a well-reported topic and after the events of the 2013 bio-terror attacks in 6

It felt like watching that awful live action RE where they brought everyone together and it boiled down to "I CLAPPED BECAUSE I KNOW THOSE GUYS" Less has ALWAYS been more with RE, it feels like they made this as an excuse to squeeze out as much reference juice as possible and made zero effort to actually drive the universe further. The thing I didn’t like about this movie was how gruff Jill is, She has almost zero love for Chris, not in a romantic way but a best friend kind of way…Jill has always been gentle and motherly especially towards Chris…The two go back all the way before the events of the first resident evil…Their relationship is special, after Chris saves Jill in RE5, she goes right back to that gentle role…But here she is so mute to Chris and doesn’t understand just how much he cares for her, he mourned her for a long time thinking she was dead, It seems this movie totally canned the compassion and love that these two had.

The problem i have with these movies is that we know that there will be 0 Stakes, because if some of these Main Characters would die, it will be in the Games, not in the movies. It´s the side Characters which are introduced in these movies, either they will live or die. But never the main characters. This however will always lower the expectations i have for these movies.
@mrcheesemunch

Yeah it would be dumb if main characters died in them but maybe they should work on adding characters from the movies to the games, that way you could be like "Oh I hope he's in a future game!" but then they die...or they don't. The way they're detached from the games but still have to mostly follow canon just isn't it, they should be more intertwined. Introduce some cool new bad guys that show up in games too.

I don't really understand the place these movies have in the continuity of the games anyway. I don't think the writers of the games even care about following anything in these movies. I feel sorry for the movies' writers since they are creatively handcuffed and they probably know anything they do will never get followed up on in a game.

9:00 This is indeed the first time Jill and Leon have been in the same room together (on-screen, at least; one could interpret their dialog as suggesting that they've met previously,) so ask the Jill/Leon shippers what they thought of this movie and you'll probably get a lot of incoherent squeeing. 13:25 That ain't no d-tier 80s kung-fu move, it's Guile's flash kick, because Capcom = Street Fighter. tbh Leon doesn't seem to take it as well as Raul Julia did 🤔 14:00 When I showed a friend the trailer before the movie came out he said "sorry I missed the plot I was paying attention to the GROUP QUICKTIME EVENT" and you know, as that or big anime fight, it's still awesome. As for reusing RE3R's ending I still haven't forgiven them for that, JUST CALL THE RAILGUN "PARACELSUS' SWORD" CAPCOM YOU COWARDS 16:30 I think the villain deserves a little more credit here, since his whole schtick was that the not-transmitted-through-bites part of the t-virus variant was a feature and his plan was a mass but targeted assassination (oh my god he's Neil Breen, this is just Neil Breen's character Thgil from "Pass Through" with mad science instead of alien magic) but I do mean a _little_ more credit because it ultimately doesn't change the way the story plays out compared to how it would if he had been attempting to start a full outbreak.

Good review, tho honestly I find this one the weakest of all the CGI stuff we got. It felt like a sequence of poor strung together fight scenes, although that finale is kinda amazing. Still think the first movie works the best as a movie (and it has zombies), but my all time favcourite is the 2nd still, I mean you have Lickers fighting Tyrants and that just too awesome. Plust both of those actually spend sometime evne though it is very basic to build characters a little bit.

My single biggest complaint about this movie is that they just ported REmake 3 Jill and called it a day. Despite RE5 making her pale and blonde due to Wesker's experiments (but she dyes her hair brown now) so to me, it's all very lazy and a bit jarring having RE6 tier Leon with REmake 3 Jill.
