I don't make costumes or props, and I don't cast molds, but I LOVE listening to knowledgeable people talking their business.

Yeah! I love watching fine woodworking tutorials even though I don't have plans to make fancy furniture.

Being in Australia "Store at room temperature" may not be the best. I am in South East Queensland where room temperature for most of the year is 30 degrees celcius plus. But all great advice.

I use large popsicle/craft sticks for mixing resin all the time, either in a cup or on a flat surface (e.g. double-syringe epoxy.) I just cut the rounded end off with heavy scissors first.

I find that wood mixing sticks are generally the worst. So many chances to introduce contamination, including moisture. I use reusable silicone and olastic sticks. I have accidentally used silicone sticks in silicone and basically changed their shape and size though. Plastic knives are good in a pinch too, they are useless for food but orrfect for mixing.

I am just starting out with mold-making and casting. For slush-casting SmoothCast 300, can I do multiple thin layers that set up between each curing of the resin, or would multiple layers de-laminate?
@punishedprops
5 ай бұрын
Slushing multiple layers is the way to go! The layers won't delaminate as long as the next layer is added soon after the fist layer has cured. Here's our older video on slush casting: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tomsuqivmpxneqQsi=yFMl2CuKsL2F2Zot

With a big rifle like that, would it help to slush cast a thin skin and then fill with expanding foam?
