In this video, Resistor Color coding (3 bands, 4 bands, 5 bands and 6 bands) has been explained.
After watching this video, you will be able to find the resistor value for 3-band, 4-band, 5-band and 6-band resistors.
What is Resistor Color Code :
The value of the resistor is indicated on the resistor itself using the different color bands.
Commercially available resistors can have either 3, 4, 5 or 6 color bands. And accordingly, they are known as the 3-band, 4-band, 5-band and 6-band resistors respectively.
4-band Resistor Color Code:
1st Band - 1st Digit
2nd Band- 2nd Digit
3rd Band - Multiplying factor
4th Band - Tolerance
3-Band Resistor Color Code:
In 4-Band Resistor, if the 4th band or the tolerance band is missing then it is known as the 3-Band Resistor, For these resistors, the tolerance value is assumed to be 20 %.
5-Band Resistor Color Code:
1st Band - 1st Digit
2nd Band- 2nd Digit
3rd Band - 3rd Digit
4th Band - Multiplying factor
5th Band - Tolerance
6-Band Resistor Color Code:
1st Band - 1st Digit
2nd Band- 2nd Digit
3rd Band - 3rd Digit
4th Band - Multiplying factor
5th Band - Tolerance
6th Band- Temperature Co-efficient of resistance (In ppm /K)
The timestamps for the different topics covered in the video is given below:
0:50 4-Band Resistor Color Code (with Examples)
4:01 3-Band Resistor
4:31 5-Band Resistor Color Code (with Example)
6:25 6-Band Resistor Color Code (with Example)
This video will be helpful to all students of science and engineering in understanding the resistor color coding.
