Now the main journal clearances have been checked, next is to check the big end clearances on the connecting rods. They turned out to be outside the recommended specs by just over 0.001". Doesn't sound like a lot, but this much over can lead to reduced oil pressure and that is not something we want. Now is the time to make sure this is corrected by taking them back to the machine shop for re sizing. This will close up that space and put them back to the correct clearances. This job is not to complex and the cost for all 8 rods came to just over $200. Which is extremely cheap insurance. In this video I wanted to show how that clearance is checked using a dial bore gauge and a micrometer. This maybe the last video this year due to the Christmas break. I wish you all a great holiday and a Happy New Year. See you in January!!! Cheers John.
