All great tips. Not sure if this was mentioned but first and foremost, you should introduce yourself to your guest(s); for example, "Hi, my name is Jim/Mary and I'll be taking care of you today." The reasoning behind this is that you want to build a relationship between you and your guest(s). Other small things include bringing lemons when they order their sodas, putting children's drinks in styrofoam cups, and always having straws, sugar, sweeteners, and napkins on hand. Additionally, always ask your customer(s) how they want their meals to be prepared, ie. "how would you like your burger done, sir"? The goal is to create such a pleasureable experience for your guest(s) that they cannot wait to return and receive the same high level of service they've come to expect. In the end, it's your personality and the comfort you provide that will make you money above all else!

You don't have to be happy in order to smile, u can make a second nature. i was working in a construction domain then became a restaurant manager and the ceo always push me to smile and took many warnings for that, then it became a second nature even when im in the supermarket, im smiling to people there..hhhhhh

As a customer I never really pay much attention to the waiter or waitress and I always tip the same, 20%. Just move the decimal over, multiply by two. Easy. To me the tip is just part of their wage, it's not for me to short them on.

My parents always gave waiters such a small tip, least is not giving anything most is $4. Now I make sure I give at least $5-$10 tips to waiters that I see are nice. Sometimes raise the tips when I see that they had a bad day just to try and help with their day.

This video was great . And informative too. I see many restaurants to cafe's to buffet outlets who do not follow these simple etiquette skills when it comes to fine or comfort dining. I have worked in hospitality for 2 years and I would rarely see these types of skills out on the floor and even worse behind the bar of where you need to serve up and fill up the drinks. No one helps you . Atleast in my experience they didn't . Glad that this training video popped up onto my feed. As I am aware of many people who would need to watch it .

Hi. I teach English in Vietnam. My school concentrates on speaking and listening and for higher level learners we have introduced 4 specific topics: Food and Beverage, Travel, Shopping, and Entertainment/Free Time Activities. Part of the course is for students to do their own study. We are sourcing various videos and audio links which students need to watch or listen to, and then they need to answer questions about it. After seeing your video, I was wondering if it would be possible to use various snippets from it for this self-study segment? Many thanks, Mr D

Are the employees are expected to remember EVERY person who comes through the door? How could the question, "Is this your first time with us?" be offensive? The suggested line, "Are you familiar with how things work here?" is awkward. Much worse than the example of what not to say.
@marcusmarquez9754
5 жыл бұрын
I think that's abit silly to be expected to remember every single person who comes through the door of you're establishment but it sure does help if you want the place you're working at to have a good reputation . Aswell as doing you're job with respect and gratitude. That you are grateful for you're guests visit . Because imagine this right if you're guest was to remember their first time at you're establishment and they come back again and are aware that you don't remember them imagine how they would feel ? Awkard !. So you should be able to atleast remember their names . Some guests actually find it rude if they had been to that same establishment before and you forgot their name . It's ridiculous yes but it does come handy and gives you're establishment extra brownie points for good customer service . Probably would even gain more tips by simple etiquette like that too .
