like a lot of busineseses. I fix computers/networking equipment. There are so many companies that offer this service, often the customer just won't pay the bill (because often when you fix an issue, there will be another issue that develops later on, its just the nature of it. So the customer will try to use that as an excuse to not pay the invoice when it comes in). And then they will just contact another computer service company for help, and then screw them as well by not paying the bill. So when they call me for service now, I just demand cash on the spot to fix there issue and I charge a competitive rate, so they often pay it right then and there (even if they have to run out to the bank while I am at the office).

Server, cooks and dishwasher jobs are looked down on and some employers pay them less like $7-9 hr probably less. That's why some are chosing unemployment and not returning. Just like there are slum landlords there are slum management to. A good CEO or manager cares about their employees and make sure they are paid decent wages and working in a safe environment. It's crazy people keep talking about stimulus checks wasn't it given to americans to do what they please. Most americans who received them are working people. Me and the other 5 cooks would work as usual, crack the back door wide open, someone bought a huge fan, and everyone took turns running into the cooler and getting back out. I got an immune shock from the extreme heat and blasting cold changes throughout the day. It sucked so bad. I left 3 weeks in and I heard it hasn’t been fixed. @@lambastepirate 9 days?! The hell, do you live right next to a warehouse to get them that fast? The hotel I work at had to wait over a year to replace a burned out ice maker for the only ice machine on the entire property, and we had to wait 4 months just to get a pump for the pool. Just getting specialty bulbs for the external fixtures can take up to two months, and even then we can only get 2/3 as many as we need because the supplier just doesn't have them in stock and they're back ordered by another 3 months.
@bonnieinla

I run a hotel. One of our AC units went down last month, and due to supply chain issues the fastest we can get it replaced is August at the earliest. And that's paying more than $16K for the fix. It's possible (or likely) the issue is more than a simple repairman.
@Dargonhuman
3 жыл бұрын
I work at a hotel too, and I've seen how hard it is for the manager to just get light bulbs for the external fixtures, let alone replace an HVAC unit - it took us over a year to get someone to just look at our faulty ice machine (the only one on the entire property no less) then another month to find a new unit to replace the burned out one. You're absolutely right, just because the pandemic is technically "over" for a lot of places doesn't mean the supply chains that were decimated when the factories closed down for months are magically back to 100% - hell, even before the pandemic it was hard for small and medium sized businesses to get HVAC repairs and replacements, now with chronic shortages of parts and units it's even harder.

Amazing what's possible when a country pulls together - and that's even with China declaring a trade war with us & deliberately trying to sabotage our systems. You guys really need to fix your systems if you're being that impacted by covid! btw we wouldn't consider something like air con supply issues as an issue though, we'd even pull the air con apart if it had parts we needed for other systems that were actually important to operations, cause if there are supply issues, you just figure out what's actually important & focus on that & obviously air con is not

You know who did complain? The female workers. You realize who didn't walk out in the video? The men. It's always the female workers who don't want to work in "uncomfortable" conditions, that's why women won't work as roofers, construction, landscapers, A/C repair (ironically) and other labor intensive jobs in the heat. What's your solution to the low supply of units and HVAC technicians? Where have you been through this whole pandemic? There has been a shortage on all products and goods, plus a shortage of workers doing these jobs but then want to put all the blame on one restaurant for trying to keep its doors open and employees employed. This business needs to stop being cheap and buy a new a/c. Ive been threw this before here in vegas. It took 3 months for them to replace the a/c because they wanted the a/c company they use to try to just fix the same broken a/c instead of replacing it. Also because of trying to just patch up the broken a/c, it took longer for the new a/c to be delivered because they had to order a new one after they were told that they had to replace it and it ended up on a back order. The a/c unit did cost 5000. My coworkers and I, toughed it out and it sucked. They have more than enough money to replace it off the bat but they still tried to budget the fix. Knowing we were hot as hell. Smh. Good job ladies!

When I was teenager working at Kmart our air was for months and male co worker passed out right infront of the doors and sadly passed away! Idk if there was ever a lawsuit or if there was an autopsy or cause but it was very sad and traumatizing. I will never understand how companies treat their employees badly when they are the ones working hard making the company money and when it comes to AC no one wants to eat or shop being uncomfortable so that's even more money they are loosing .. all around a loose loose for the company.
