There something about building your own . Had the blast building my 94 GT Zasker last year. XTR brakes with a mix of XT shifters cranks and petals. Chris King head and bottom. Used the Judy rock shocks wheels and handle bar from a FSR . Worth every penny. Some new and some old great combo for the bike. Awesome ride!!

Always wanted a GT. I'm going to start rebuilding my 2001 Klein Attitude. Great vid! Got to love the steep declines with V brakes hahaha!

I have always loved the GT Triple Triangle Design, they were different from all other makes of bikes, I do believe that the Triple Triangle was also designed to help make the back end stiffer on the aluminum frames. I had 4 GT hard tail bikes with my favourites being the 1992 GT Pantera Al in bright red and the 1993 GT Zaskar Le (I build from just a frame and forks, Forks were Pace RC 35 with rear mounted brace and brakes).

Love the creativity! I'm currently resto- moding a 1996 Pro/flex 756 myself. Doing a 27.5" x 26" mullet conversion on it. Love working on these awesome 90s MTBs 🤙

Heck yeah man! That's a sweet looking GT! I picked up a 2001 Specialized Stumpjumper and I did very similar upgrades. You're totally right, these older bikes can be very light and still very capable of handling technical trails, all depends on the rider. Cheers from Texas! 🤘😎

Covid and isolation fueled my appetite to work with my hands. I’ve rebuilt, restored and resto-modded over a dozen bikes in the past 2 years. Only slowing down for the holidays and lack of garage space.

Shhhhh! Don't tell everyone about 90s MTBs! Awesome video mate. I've just stocked up on a few projects to keep me occupied through the rest of the year. Buying the bikes I wanted when I was a teenager.

@@nigehill Hi Nigel....how come I always think of Spinal Tap when I hear that name😁....anyway I think the key word in your reply is "yet"....just a matter of time until these bargain priced iconic brands and models turn the curve and blow up in value....everything vintage that become desirable collectables has 25-30 yr. window...my advice to people that are true vtg mtb enthusiast is to keep what you got and stick to trading with others in the vtg mtb community

Sweet bike man I love the resto mod look right now I’m working on a 94 Cannondale delta v 1 x11 and disc brakes. It’s coming along nicely but waiting for nicer weather so I can do some videos on the build. Beautiful scenery thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.

I would prefer a retro mod build, compare to a retro build, because it can be so hard to get correct period parts in Australia, than customising your very own bike. I'm in the middle of putting together my 98 Kona Lava Dome, which will be mostly a mix of retro and modern parts. I have a 2000 GT Avalanche, which I'm going to pimp out, but that's a looooong term project.

Started rebuilding a 1998 Rocky mountain element race. Didn’t even know it was cool to resto mod an old bike before I even started, but the old element just makes sense for me and my planned use for it. It won’t be ridden extremely hard but I am putting a lot of nice modern and fairly capable parts. Along with that a new fresh modern/ 90’s inspired paint job, the original was kinda meh not a good as others. I’m an auto-body tech by trade so the paint job is the easy part for me to get 100% professional Sram gx drive, sunrace 12sp lshimano casset, dt Swiss/ specialized wheels, avid elixir r carbon. Still need fork handle bars cranks etc

Nice vid mate didnt know there was riding there , its the closest thing to a hot rod bicycle you can get one thing you . Ha ha to fully re live or die the nineties you need at least a 150mm 90 degree stem and 580mm flat bars to go nicely with the 72 deg ha 😂😂 👍👍enjoyed the watch but the nineties bikes send me into post troumatic bike disorder ha ha.

Yeah normally I can get down that hill in half the time but on the resto it’s a bit of a death grip but actually not too bad. I’d probably wouldn’t do it that easy on the retro with canti brakes.. that’s asking for an OTB 😂

@@nigehill fully feel the fear mate i call it riding in survival mode not the fun mode of a modern bike dont know how you go back and forth from a modern bike to these old things especially the brakes you must shit yourself when you get back on new brakes .
