Follow me as I restore a Stanley #4 bench plane, and tune it up to take shavings of less than one thou'. The only cost being some abrasives, white and methylated spirits, paper towels, and two hours of my time. Tools required: a flat reference surface, screwdrivers, card scraper, and grinding/honing guide.
Sit back, and watch somebody else do all the work - but then have a go yourself!
Watch out for future videos, where I will continue the tune up. Installing a premium iron and chip breaker, perfecting the mouth, and experimenting with changing the pitch using a second iron.
