On one of the forums, I bought a bronze lock like this. The size seems small, but it is quite heavy. The lock was battered by time, but it was practically in working order, except for a very tight opening and closing. Although if you lubricate it, it would probably work easier. Maybe it's not bronze, but brass, but I couldn't tell the difference, so let's have a bronze heavy lock. Restoring an old heavy castle is not easy. First, it had to be disassembled. I used a gas burner to dismantle the ancient castle. The bottom of the lock was sealed with tin, so I heated it and knocked it out with a screwdriver and a hammer. The inside of the castle was rusty and dirty, so I took them away and washed them in gasoline. There was a strong bully or gash on the lock handle, and it had to be eliminated. To do this, I used arc welding. Then the grinder sawed off the welded metal. I polished the lock handle with a polishing wheel and sandpaper. Under the rust was found the brand 25. I cleaned the key in a sandblaster. Then I dropped the shackle and lock key in linseed oil. I also polished the lock case. It was not possible to Polish it well, since there are many spills on the body, apparently it was cast so badly in the workshop. I cleaned the inside of the lock with an engraver and picked up a new spring. Some parts needed to be straightened. To do this, I used an old sledgehammer of the USSR.Now you can collect the old castle. I folded the whole mechanism and closed the lid. Now it needs to be soldered. To do this, I took soldering acid, tin, a soldering iron and a gas burner. Using a soldering iron, I applied tin, and with a burner I melted it so that it leaked into all the cracks. That's it, the castle is renovated, restored and ready to go! It works perfectly and looks beautiful.
