I have a new-to-me Pinnock Sewmaster, that I took photos of when I disassembled the tension unit...but the previous owner had been messing around with it and put it back together wrong! So thanks to your videos, I knew how to put it back together properly and it works!

Yes, that has happened to me also Caroline. Knowing how something is supposed to go together helps to unravel the well meaning mistakes of other's attempts at repair.

Great video! I learned how to take apart the tension assembly on my Universal Super ZigZag Model AZZ. I can find nothing about this machine anywhere! You have a great voice and you explain things very well. Thank you for posting!!

Enjoy your videos, a little fuzzy in spots. I’m just starting to restore a vintage 15. Thank you

This is the best video explanation of a Singer tension assembly I've seen. Well done, and thank you. I wonder if you could make a similar video but showing the tension assembly of a White Family Rotary? As you likely know it's quite different from Singers.

Yes, actually I have made a video like you describe. I actually chose a White Rotary that I used to have as the subject of my OVERHAUL SERIES. One of those videos should show what you are asking about. See it here. I hope this is helpful. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qG1rzoGAm318fHo

@@VintageSewingMachineGarage So I have the original White Rotary machine head, in a treadle cabinet. The tension on it is a bit different than the newer Rotary in your link. May still be useful though, thanks.

This is such a helpful video, it explained why my machine is trying to sew but can't quite manage it. However! My check spring is actually stuck on that thread screw thats still in the machine when the assembly is off, wrapped around that gear-looking piece inside. I can't figure out how to get it out! Does anyone have any advice?

I watched the whole thing waiting for you to explain what the thing to the right of the assembly...it's sort of a shield or lever, a piece of polished steel about 1/2", doubled over on itself. I can't find anything about it. On my Best Built XL, it appears to move around the shaft, and sets the "range" of movement for the outermost part of the tension spring. But, that's a guess.

I hope you will show what you said. As my spring is caught and cannot be removed . The very end of check spring is caught.

Have you done it on a Kenmore model 32? 1960?

Not on that model. I will have to watch out for one to make a video on. Meanwhile, you can likely find the info. you are seeking by joining vintage machine groups at places like Facebook, Google, or Yahoo etc. Each brand or type of machine has a loyal following and the members there are very generous in sharing what they know. Kenmores in my opinion were some of the best made machines and are worth saving!
