This was a very cool tram. Never seen one like this. Greetings from Sweden 😎

It's pretty cool to see how they retained the exterior and interior of R1753. Other than that, great video, Coolsoap8 and Thanks for sharing.

A few notes here from someone who knows much... Trams of that era don't have a "throttle" or "accelerator." They simply have a Controller and a brake stand. They also had a wind-up handbrake with a big brass lever. This tram, R 1753, as tram that was at North Sydney depot at the end, was withdrawn in June 1958 when the North Sydney lines closed. Another point of interest here is that this tram came from the wrecks inside the old Rozelle Tram Depot, which had been salvaged for a planned tramline in the late 80s by The Rocks Streetcar Association. Contrary to what the desto says, it never went to Balgowlah as Corridor Cars never ran on the Manly lines. Only O class cars (such as the one in the ad for Conductors) ever ran from Manly Wharf to Narrabeen, Harbord (Freshwater) Beach, and up to Balgowlah, and then down to the Manly side of The Spit. There was a tram-ferry but it was never used with passengers on the tram. There is lots of evidence still of trams in the Manly area if you know what to look for, and where. (The Manly lines closed in 1939, IIRC) The ferry in the ad, the Curl Curl, was the twin of the Dee Why. They weren't _"a class"_ as such, just "twins." Cable: "Bell cord." Lower Saloon? "Drop Centre. These trams were of the "Drop Centre" design, this being a very common design for bogie trams. As for a builder, memory tells me that Clyde Engineering would have been the builder. The only thing I can find wrong in the display, apart from the suggestion that this tram ran to Narrabeen or anywhere on the northern side of The Spit, is the numbers. They were always gold, not red.

Thanks for sharing your information! I did very little research before making this video and I was very tired so I wasn’t think as straight as I normally would. I’ve done lots of research since making this, so I see that lots of the things I said were stupid 😂. I’ve been given a proper tour of the R1-class operations at the STM, so I now almost fully understand every little lever and button in the cab (I’d assume the R and R1 class aren’t too mechanically different). Even if R 1753 is bending the history a little bit with its numbers and desto, it’s still a beautiful little tram and it’s great to see it repurposed with a new life. Dee Why and Curl Curl are technically the Dee Why-class ferry, because it is generally considered a class if it’s more than one vessel. Thanks for telling me what you know about trams, I’m interested in making tram vlogs again however it will mostly be heritage stuff like this. Thanks for watching! 😊

@@coolsoap8 No worries! Keep trying! If you've watched any of my videos (I haven't made any for quite a while) you may notice I don't say anything in them. There were two exceptions where my brain engaged my mouth automatically when I saw something, but that's an exception. Please don't be offended if I give history lessons on some things - I grew up with these things either in active service, or depending on what it is, active preservation. Over the years I've read lots of books, watched videos, been to the museums, and learnt. 🙂

@@tobys_transport_videos I've watched a few of your train videos and your Lady-class tribute video, and you certainly have some awesome footage worth treasuring. I'm not at all offended from your lecturing, I like recieving feedback on how to make my videos better and I love learning more about transport, and you certainly have some fantastic information/stories to tell! Soon enough I'll hopefully be in the transport industry myself, so I'll be learning more and more each day while being directly involved in what I am truly passionate about. I'm glad that you support my channel, and I'm always happy to recieve feedback or comments so don't worry about offending me! Cheers 😀

Also I forgot to mention that I should shortly be uploading two seperate videos. One is riding R1-class tram No. 1979 with the driver showing how to operate the tram and a cab ride, the second video will be a tour inside the shed at the STM which is not open to the public so that'll be a cool special one to upload.
