In 1930, cruciform (cross-shaped) screws did not exist. The real screws had a hemispherical head with a groove for a flat screwdriver. So doing a complete and historic restoration also requires attention to these details.

Nice job, but units in this era never used gloss on the wood.. everything was a rubbed matte finish. Also, they didn't have phillips screws in 1920 :)

I just got one of these old things but when I put the needle down it slowly stops and comes to a complete stop... what’s wrong and how do I fix it?
@Woodys_Hobbies
3 жыл бұрын
replace needle with new one. second clean all the movement side especially governor and regulator side, and also the spring. In cleaning it, i'm just using an ordinary lacquer thinner. don't use strong thinner like automotive thinner. after all the cleaning just put a grease a little on all moving parts.

Enjoyed that a lot, I hear comments about wrong screws and I suppose that's ok, but can anyone tell me where you can get screws that match, I'm exhausted trying,
@Woodys_Hobbies

Well you can find the right screws in a bolt and nut center or a store specializing on selling nuts and bolts. But it doesn't matter about wrong screws as long as the thread fits in. that's all we can do if we have limited spares.

And also, this gramophone restoration is really badly done (sorry). brush painting of the box, handle not restored, Aluminum plate and horn (normally painted in matt black, are oxidized, and the music at the end shows a engine that does not work (bad speed) and a bad unread soundbox. So, Impossible to consider this "work" as a real restoration of a gramophone. It is a shame.
