This is only temporary and turns plastic brittle. Far better results from wet sanding and applying bowling wax. The plastics absorb the wax and become flexible again which in term makes it more durable and shock resistant unlike brittle heated plastics

I work at a tractor dealership what I do is take rubbing compound and apply with a polisher then wash it and apply polishing compound then wash again. I’ll hit any hard to reach spots by hand and after that it’s restored to brand new with microscopic top layer removed and polished out to new then if you want you can apply wax to give a nice protective coat. I wouldn’t recommend the sand paper as it’s more abrasive than you really need try picking up some rubbing compound and it’ll do the work for you it’ll never fade either as it’s not like wax where you’re just applying a coating it’s more like microscopic sanding so fine that when you’re done with the polishing compound there’s no visible scratches at all a polishing gun only runs you 50$ as well the compounds you can pick up for 10 each at any autozone

It helps to sand the oxidation off as much as possible so your not melting it back into the plastic. You will get a better result with the color much brighter. Start with 400 or 600-800 then torch or heat gun until the surface looks shiny then keep moving around the surface. Then let cool. If you want an even glossier result wet sand 1000-3000 grit, compound & polish, then use SC1 High gloss coating to finish.

Can you spray clear coat on after to bring out extra shine or no? Suppose you'd have to sand it first?

Do you think if you had slightly sand it with an 800 the result would be better (surface wise)?

Clear coat works well on headlights to prevent oxidation from returning. 3-5 VERY THIN layers-thoroughly dry between coats.
