I came across your videos because I am thinking of getting an older Lexus. I have to say. These videos have made me go with an older Lexus as a secondary car. You are very informative and you show with a little care how well made these cars are! Keep it up. Great work!

Man, I have to give you credit. Based on this video plus a few others, i just successfully changed both my knock sensors on my Gs430. I used your deadlifting style to get the manifold off, but i got my brother to help me put it back properly aligned on top of the 4 studs. Its hard by yourself . The fact that you did this twice on your own is admirable. However my advice to anyone who goes in there is to just change everything- the starter and both knock sensors. I regret now, not changing the starter because it looked like the original (2001) starter and it could fail at anytime. It would cost an extra $300 or so, but its a lot of work to do over again if your starter fails. Definitely change at least both knock sensors while your there. I had only a bank 1 failure - code P0325.

@@BernonCars my LS430 has the same code. Replaced the knock sensor with aftermarket ones. But same code appears. Sensors must not be up to OEM standards. But they were much cheaper than at the dealer. Been putting premium gas. I can’t tell if it’s slower than normal. The code has been on since I bought the car. I don’t think I’m going to worry about replacing them again for a while.

I have a 2006 gs430 with 233k miles and I’m hoping I don’t need to do this anytime soon - I just fixed a CEL the other week for MAF sensor which was an easy fix - thank God it was only that- but from seeing this video it doesn’t seem so bad - just getting all that stuff out the way seems like a hassle

Looking good so far. Last Friday night I was out enjoying my 6 speed Acura and a deer ran out from behind a tall bush on the side of the road a half mile from home :/ it completely fucked the passenger side fender, headlight and a little bit of the hood but I've been lucky enough to find a real clean fender thats the same color to replace it with. Drove 3 hours for it.. I'm just glad everyone was fine and I got the car down to like 30mph before I hit the deer.. kinda blows but atleast it looks like everything I have to replace will line right back up like nothing ever happened. I'd say it'll be costing me 300-500 in total plus my time gathering the parts and replacing everything.

Nah you can run 87 no problem on these cars. It even says it in the owners manual. I'll be testing on my dragy here soon if theres a difference in acceleration on 87 vs 91... I might even try 93 since its the same price. But I'm seriously doubting if there's a huge difference. 1999 lexus ls400 193k miles stock knock sensor and has been ran on 87 forever. Swapped to 91 for the last couple weeks for the possibilty of more horsepower. Currently dragy quarter mile time converted to a sea level da drag strip i got a fastest time of 14.06 @ 98.66 mph.
