Very nice job. At our pipe club meeting we talked about staining pipes, but I also like the natural look.

Happy to report that it's smoking exceedingly well, no less than I would expect from any Savinelli pipe.

I love pipe smoking and I love my fellow pipers but I will never understand why pipe smokers are so picky. I understand it costs a lot of money so you want the best you can buy but it is made of wood, a natural material produced by nature. I love the grain on your pipe. It looks beautiful and I'd pay Savinelli for it haha.

just a quick thing mate. its worth running a grade comb over your buffing wheels to get rid of the fuzz and even the wheel up. yours looked brand new so thats the time to do it. great little pipe though.

I use a variable speed Buffer that I use on my truck; it works great. I love all my Savinelli Series III Pipes. They are all unfinished except with a thin coat of carnauba wax which is easily removed with some isopropyl alcohol. Finish them as you want, but I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It gives the pipe a wonderful color and brings out the grain. I then apply a few thin coats of Renaissance Wax Polish. I figure if the Englands Royal Museum uses fit to preserve their item from paper to wood to metals then my pipes can use it as well. I love the stuff and have been using it for decades. A 200 ml can will last a long time.

Do you apply any varnish or anything after the sanding, polishing ?
@daleschmidt7157

Do not use varnish, it seals the wood. Use shellac instead. It's an all natural material that's made from secretions from the female Lac Bug and Alcohol. personally like to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Multiple coat at first, then just re-apply when you need to or want to. It'll soak in a protect the wood.

Vigilante Driver I picked up a Dimonte Gigantic pipe at the flea market for $6 today.It was in very good shape.I gave it a good cleaning and decided to hand off the finish After sanding I applied ba coat of Ecti Virgin olive oil line you mentioned.It looks great now.Probably apply another coat when it's all soaked in/ dry.

I can’t find any pipes anywhere in my area in California. When I ask about finding some on eBay I get laughed at. Don’t know we’re else to find any without serious travel...
