My shade broke almost exactly where yours did, and for a year I couldn't find out how to repair it. Today I decided to spend some time on the internet to find a solution or buy a new one. Your video after spending time on at least ten sites was the only one which actually really helped, and my shade is like new again (except for the knot). Thank you very much, you were great help :)

Title of Video should be: REPAIRING broken string and keeping the blob in the front ---- I'm so thankful that someone else has made this more complicated than myself could make it. Anyway, thank you ...I'm now half blind from the footage of the blind . . . BlessU

You saved my marriage! My mother-in-law wrongfully accused my son of breaking the string oh her bamboo blinds and unless fixed whe would have poisoned our lives. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I didn't think the first bit about the messy string etc was necessary and the up and downing of the camera was confusing, but it did help me. Efforts appreciated.

Thank you so much for making this project approachable (I thought I'd have to toss my blinds). Went to "Micheals" craft store found "Parachute 325" cord, 21 ft length. (Used by crafters to make bracelets, etc.) Comes in array of colors. Chose camoflage color which complemented bamboo slats. This cord is a nice weight and the mechanism seems to flow better too. For more info. check out Pepperell Braiding Company on the web. P.S. You need 2 x 21 ft bunches for an 8 ft. long blind.

Thanks for this video. Mine broke on the right side as well. Taking the end up and over the first pulley, then down and around to the back is what I needed to see. Have you found any string that the sun will not rot as quickly as this cotton string? I tried nylon, but the sun took care of it too.

I'm confused.. and a bit dizzy from the camera panning up & down & all around. Couldn't you just record yourself drawing it out? I have the exact same roman shade bamboo blinds from Garden Ridge, and they didn't come with instructions to install. I just figured it out, sort of. Can't find anywhere online a diagram of how it should be, especially of the 2 gear lock/unlock mechanism on the top right.

Helpful, but little confusing. 4.21 is key to stringing . Drawing would be helpful.
