8:21 insurance companies / actuaries don’t see it that way. The actuarial tables still show only 15% men live past their 80th decade.

Dave, a couple of items of note. New research published by JAMA Internal Medicine - a peer-reviewed medical journal published by the American Medical Association, found that the average life expectancy for US men is 73.2 years while US women is at 79.1 years (as of 2023). Secondly, unless by technology Ric is referring to is all the medicines advertised on TV and other platforms, I am unsure of the technology to which he is referring. The rate of Type 2 diabetes and poor metabolic health has sky rocketed in the US these past few decades. I’m not convinced, with the high consumption of the standard American diet, that average life expectancies are going to be in the 80s and 90s.

Great conversation! I appreciate your points on Ageism, so true! Starts in one's 50's. I also see a great deal of anger from younger generations towards Baby Boomers.

Very skeptical that diseases will be cured as described. More likely people will live longer with serious physical and mental abilities that require investments in care and healthcare.

The concept of mini-retirement changed my life. I'm no longer waiting for some retirement paradise when I'm 65. It helps to know how to fund the lifestyle. You know, making money while you sip that piña colada by the beach does help. I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.

I enjoyed this episode very much! Ric is a brilliant and unique individual who is always interesting to listen to. I wouldn’t want just interviews but it’s a nice change every once in a while.

Thanks, Dave. Great interview. My wife and I personally prefer your personal advice ….possibly sprinkled with interviews such as this, but once again that’s our opinion.. PS: I’m that guy (with my wife) at 68, debating on investing some of our long-term investments in crypto, so thank you for bringing this up.! Semper Fi ❤️🇺🇸

Dave is a polite host and allows his guest, Rick, to talk about the longer life expectancy for a long time. Thank you, Dave for summarizing the key points in a few bullet points.

Appreciate the insights. The real goal is not to work until you're 80. It's to find new meaning beyond a career and really get back to those things you set aside to pursue what society required of you.
