Ghost fishing is a real threat for marine biodiversity. Lost fishing nets continue to fish for months, degrading underwater habitats and polluting the oceans. Constituents of fishing nets, such as nylon, can take up to 600 years to completely degrade! Removing these nets is essential to preserve marine biodiversity. The marine hearoes of NaturDive have made it their mission to retrieve ghost nets, in collaboration with artisanal fishermen and local authorities.
In 2022, NaturDive and its partners have removed more than 25 ghost nets in Cannes, Antibes and Nice. A total of over 3 km of nets, covering 11,000 m2 of seabed, removed from our Sea!
