I love this! Do you sell your rubrics or lessons on TPT? Would this work with oil pastels? Thanks 😊

I don’t sell yet, sorry! But yes, I think oil pastels would work well too!

Beautiful! I was looking for something fun an different for my 8th grade students and this will fit the bill. Do youo have them look at old neon signage first? To get ideas for connectors and shapese? Do you use a rubric to grade these?

Thanks! Yes, we look at neon sign examples and yes I always create a rubric to use for assessments 😊

Awesome idea! Do you spray them with something when they’re done or do any other kind of preservative?

Thanks! Last year when my husband first did this he laminated them. I think this year we might try spray fixative instead (with windows open after school).

Love this lesson! How long does it take for your students to complete pieces like this?
@BethanyThiele

Thanks! We worked in this for about 5 class periods total. How long it takes depends on your length of class periods and how much prep work you do with them.

These look awesome! In your opinion, could 6th grade do this project?
@BethanyThiele

Yes, I think they could, but expect less detail. Also, be very clear about expectations for child dust (how to shake it off over garbage, not blow it or shake it into the table). Also, be clear about not touching the face or other kids with dirty hands! :)
