I liked what you said about Innovation. When I first started reading reviews on BGG I was so surprised that most people seemed to see a game that required skill as a bad thing. They said stuff like - “Great game, but the problem is an experienced opponent would defeat an newbie.” What? Still shocking to me. What about basketball and football, and all other games, including chess that a new person cannot win against an experience player. I never imagined people would see that as a bad thing. Now I see what designers do to balance a game out and put it on rails so that people have mostly equal scores. As for me, I am drawn to games where I can learn from experience and become better. Maybe It’s because I grew up on chess and sports and competition. Anyway, great video.

I'm with you! I like a game I can get better at and at least feel like I'm making meaningful important decisions, even if I have to learn from them. Thanks for watching! - Braiden

As someone starting to build up their own collection, I really appreciate this series! As you hear about "the classics" and "ohh you need to get/play that one", however what if they really don't hold up anymore and don't have the staying power over time?! Helps to hear you views on the games across this series as don't wanna buy a game because it's a "classic" but will be tired of it after acouple plays. Thanks guys, great content as usual!

Only played High Society once, and thought it was solid. But, after hearing you talk about it, I think I need to give it a few more plays to really appreciate the depth. Great video as always.

Thanks, Reggie! Definitely give it another shot or two, ideally with people who have played before, or are at least open to playing it a couple times. It's quick, and it gets better the more you play.

Wow, you are very lucky to have that eillo version of Innovation! I've been trying to find one at a reasonable resale price, but sellers are usually asking $100 or more. Love High Society, it was one of my first Knizia games and is still a favorite. I absolutely love the how the bidding shifts when the negative cards show up. 😁

😮. I didn't realize the eillo version was hard to find! And I agree, the bidding is quite dynamic! - Braiden

High Society does not feel like something that came out three decades ago, it is so smart for such a small package, also, the art of the original is interesting, very art deco, with elongated lines, reminds me of the Batman Animated Series, but very bright and a little cheesy, still not bad.

Hey guys, love this series! I’d personally appreciate if the videos were 15-20 minutes shorter. I like to commit to sitting and watching so these often end up staying in my Watch Later playlist for a good while. Thanks for the great videos 🌠

So had only played innovation as a 2player game until I ran into a group that only runs it as the team 4 player game and they love it and can have fun strategic aspects so would recommend giving it a try

Innovation sounds intriguing! I’ve only played Resistance Avalon and it was fine but also pretty awkward. About halfway through the game I knew who the evil people were so I explained for five minutes how, mathematically, it was 100% that two specific people were the evil ones. I was able to convince everyone of it but then it turned out I was wrong after being super confident we were just about to win the game, and so after that everyone turned on me (even though I was just a regular good person). At the end of the game it made no sense who one of the villains were…and when I again explained how it wasn’t mathematically possible and someone must have intentionally or accidentally cheated one player eventually fessed up that they played a failure card on an early mission despite being a good guy (thus breaking the rules) because they thought it was funny and would spice the game up. After other people expressed disapproval over that he started going off about how it was just a joke and not to take the game so serious, etc., but some of us weren’t really thrilled about it. Especially me as it made me look like a fool and I spent half the game really confused as to how I could have been wrong and not really interested in the game anymore after that.

Yeah that's definitely a downside, especially if you're playing with new players who may accidentally put in a failure. That mechanic is core to the game and can't be messed with! - Braiden
