Good show. I had the Amstrad 464. Great times and when gaming didn't take itself seriously.

As a kid I had both a Gameboy (and the color) and a Game Gear, I ended up playing the Gameboy a lot more because it didn't eat batteries like crazy like the Game Gear did, Pokemon helped a lot with that too :v

Please do a Dragon 32 system review. I had one before I got my C64, I remember it's foibles and strange colour set very well. I was very fond of it. Almost as fond as my first computer, a ZX81. Though I must admit the C64 stole my heart for many years, oh Creatures, Last Ninja, Turrican.......... those were the days.

Great video!!! Don't you love the era when we still didn't have "Pcs"; we had "microcomputers" or "home computers". If it's of interest to anyone, here is my record: Intellivision-C64-C128-Atari St-Amiga 500. And then, all the various pc (starting with the first pentium models).

Nostalgia Nerd To tell the truth, I can't remember. There probably was some version of some major game with more features, but as far as I can remember it was the typical case of a machine with little support from developers. The rule of thumb in those days was: "Never buy a 'boosted' version." I mean: look at the Spectrum 128! I was too young to realize. I guess my secret hope was to eventually be able to play an Ultima-like game on an 8-bit home computer. It wasn't going to happen.
@Nostalgianerd

I have to disagree on the Spectrum 128. It was the machine I was brought up on. Given, there wasn't much difference with the 128k other than the music. BUT I loved that AY music! It was epic! :D :D :D PLUS Where Time Stood Still was 128k only... It's EPIC

Nostalgia Nerd Of course you know more than me: alas I never owned a Spectrum. But I think I remember it wasn't that great a success. Of course, it depends on the use. In my last post when I talked about "poorly supported by developers" I meant of course game developers.

+Nostalgia Nerd Absolutely there were better years that 1983 in technology. 1986 was the release of the NES, followed by the SNES in 1992. The C64 was good, but really mate, it wasn't the greatest thing ever, not even the greatest thing in the 80's.

That Phillips is just a rebranded Odyssey II, correct? The Sega CD 2 is superior to the original, the failure rate for the original design is very high. Most PC games couldn't do 60fps like the Playstation, so checkmate.

nice collection, but... why so much hate for the nes?, it's not shit, the library is a thousand times better than the master system's library, nobody had a master system, most people didn't even know it existed, and if they knew, nobody wanted it, everybody wanted a nes, nintendo was synonim with "console" or "games", as in "let's play nintendo". all the good stuff was on nes, super mario bros, megaman, metroid, zelda, final fantasy, contra, everything!. you can't just talk shit about the nes like that!!!!, and it's absurd to compare the master system to it, the master system is a footnote like "oh, by the way, did you know sega made a console before the megadrive??", the nes was the dominant console of its generation!!
@edbadyt
7 жыл бұрын
kainthevampireduck You can't be from the UK like he is. The NES was over priced and games were hard to come by and also over priced. The Master System beat it hands down here and the NES didn't really start selling until the SNES came out and it was seen as a budget version. Also, we had a fuckton of great SMS games here.
@edbadyt
7 жыл бұрын
kainthevampireduck also, we never had Contra and most people here first played Super Mario Bros on Mario Allstars. We never had the video game crash so the Nes had nothing to save

You only buy old computers and consoles because you enjoy them. You can stop buying them at any time. You simply choose not to stop. It's not like you have a problem.
