Okay, so apparently some emulators should be mapped differently, as far as what I've been reading. Below, is perfect mapping for the N64 controller (At least for my retropie: Up - Up Down - Down Left - Left Right - Right Start - Start Select - N/A A - N/A B - A X - N/A Y - B Left Shoulder - Left Shoulder Right Shoulder - Right Shoulder Left Trigger - Z Right Trigger - N/A Left Analog Up - Joystick Up Left Analog Down - Joystick Down Left Analog Left - Joystick Left Left Analog Right - Joystick Right Right Analog Up - C Up Right Analog Down - C Down Right Analog Left - C Left Right Analog Right - C Right C down let's me enter games and I just use "Esc" with my wireless keyboard to exit games, in case you were wondering. I hope this works for you and your emulator.

@damntakes525

@@RAREONLY I skip A by using another configured controller. Hopefully you have an extra controller to do this. If you do, then all you have to do is press down on the extra controller while you're configuring the N64 controller. Btw make sure to restart the system once you're done configuring or else it won't work right. Also, it might be C right or C down to enter games "select". I believe it's the L button to go back, but I'll have to double check. Also, I'm actually using my retropie on a Odroid XU4 by Ora on an sd card to be specific so if you're using raspberry pie I don't know if my above steps will be a perfect match for your N64 games, but it sure is for mine, down to the last button. Hopefully it works for you though.

I'm using the key mapping that is recommended on the Mupen64 Github repository but it doesn't work. It says to apply the A and X buttons to Left and Down C. It also tells us to use the same C buttons for Left and Right "analog stick" but it won't let you map the buttons because they're "already taken". This is frustrating me like crazy. The fucking devs who made this put the wrong shit together in their documentation. Does that mean that just -no one- can play N64 games via Retropie? I would go in to the config files and manually edit this but apparently it's impossible to enter Retroarch while running Mupen. I could FTP or SSH into the pie but i'm not sure this will allow me to bypass the "already taken" keys. Why the hell would they make you re-use the same buttons for two different functions, anyway?
@JessMatney
4 жыл бұрын
OK so I know what the deal is! I'm guessing you have something similar to my knockoff ps3 controller. The controller has two modes, digital and analog. You need to be in digital mode. If you press the mode button you'll see the small led come on. When that small led light comes on then your remote will have the option to use all of the buttons. I can't figure out a reason the analog mode would use less. Also when you map your controller also have a cheap $10 keyboard wired keyboard plugged in to easily go up and down the menus... the biggest problem is being able to go up and down when the controller isn't mapped yet or mapped incorrectly.. so this way you can avoid that. Also the reason the controls change for the N64 games is primarily due to the fact that mupen 64 plus isn't retro native... so it doesn't use the same config setup as retroarch.

I prefer Mupen64plus without the libretocore because it runs better graphics and has been more recently updated. To fix this, go into the RetroArch menu from the RetroPie main menu, click on Configuration Editor, find the file that says N64/InputAutoCFG.ini under the “configure all” and then find your controller name with the info under it. Configure it according to what your controller output. To find the output, in the terminal, type and enter jstest /dev/input/js0 Pressing the buttons, document their correlating values. Place their values into the .ini file and exit. Restart EmulationStation. Hope that helps!
