Bob,you are absolutely correct!Always wondered about the odd house on the rail bank side of clun terrace.Obviously built as the station house!

Thank you. It took a bit of research to realise what that was.

Further to my comments on your previous video on this subject; on the street map displayed you can clearly see in red the two platforms; also, at the end of Malefant St (where I grew up from a very early age) there is showing an access road to the New Cemetery Station from Fairoak Rd bridge. This is where some new houses have been built on the site of what was previously a coal yard, but clearly an access road given the cutting nature of the approaches to the actual platforms.

Hi Bob, A very interesting follow up video, I use the Cooke Track Railway Diagram Books for research they are very accurate. Also you can gleam more detailed information from the Signalling Records Society who have track layouts and Signalling Diagrams on many of the places you have visited. Regards, Andrew.

Used to be a minister in Cardiff and remember officiating at the cemetery in the early nineties. Amazingly now live in Holy Russia 🇷🇺

Interesting to see from your street map that the trams long before the trolleybuses also had a return loop. Not my end of Cardiff but thanks Bob

Yes they ran to Roath Park and were then replaced by Trolleybuses. I have a photo for another video showing the Trolleys on their first day and the old tram tracks at Roath Park terminus. Thanks for the comment.

I would love to see a Crwys Road station open soon just south of this location. It seems like there is an abandoned building that would be a for it.

There are plans to put one by the bridge where the coffee shop is. They are on the council website somewhere. I agree, definitely needed.

You’re in luck, a station at Crwys Rd literally just got it’s planning permission approved as part of the metro project

I think a station north of here serving the area around Roath Park would be pretty popular also, but I’m not sure there’s one currently in the pipeline.

Any idea what the building on crwys road bridge is as it is 1 story at street level going into a basement with annexe aligned with the railway. Looks very late 1800s to 1900s. Was a whole group of sidings opposite behind daviot street for a brickworks.

It is listed as being the church hall of St Martin's parish church. Not looking in the best of condition these days.

Thanks for the reply, that has cleared up something ive wondered about for years! Ive also wondered about a possible siding or platform at fitzroy st cathays as the curve on the back gardens of richmond rd seems to suggest this. Any ideas?

@@neilwalters4571 not a platfomr but there were sidings south of te footbridge there. Have a look at this map and you can see a joinery factory which may explain the curve. maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=18.2&lat=51.49128&lon=-3.17348&layers=225&right=BingRoad
