Ivo Peters enabled younger generations to see the wonderful steam trains that we once had on the finest quality film that was available at that time. Brilliant

Fancy asking Donald Beale if he knew his way around a 9F, dumb question of 1985 I think. I love the way he handles the loco after all those years, quite moving in its way. Thanks very much for posting, great to see it again.

I remember watching this programme when it first transmitted. What struck me was the quality of Ivo Peters' filming. Considering that it was shot on a wind-up Bolex, it was all the more remarkable how much sharper it was than the BBC footage!

Bell and Howell camera, not a Bolex, image quality from kodachrome ll unsurpassed image quality on the 16mm format even to this day.

@@dduck1585 I heard it was a wind up Bolex but it was so long ago.....I worked in BBC telecine dept. but can't remember who told me. Maybe it was some of his other stuff.

With oil running out in the not to distant future there is no way we can carry on using our cars like at the present.A forward looking government might think it a good idea to secure what track bed still exists for future use.

I do agree with you But you have to remmember Beeching closed lines that were no longer used Passanger numbers dropped the car became king and as a bussiness it had to change I love the Nostagia of all old railways but Nostagia can keep a bussiness in profit What I really cant understand the selling off the Track Beds and Railway stations Today we could use the stations and bed again But its all to late Now At least we still have preserved lines to look at when ever we want Thank God

I have a similer recording of a program called 'All Change at Evercreech Junction', from around the same time. So I wonder if it's part of a series.

Dear Ivo Peters should have received a knighthood and OBE for his work for preservation! Sadly he was overlooked and forgotten, he was a railway legend! Beeching should have been hanged by a railway that he had destroyed!
