@@udance4ever The Ally's screen is smaller, the battery drains very, very quickly, and it overheats a lot. Additionally, it doesn't have a trackpad, making it uncomfortable to use the operating system with it. The Lenovo Legion Go is a great option, and you won't regret it. For many games, you'll need to make some adjustments to get them running well, but overall, and in my experience, it offers a better experience than the ROG Ally.

@@WARMENTV I decided to take the jump & exchange for the LeGo! I really like the detachable controllers but it's a mixed experience. legion space is dead on arrival - it auto upgrades & refuses to work. it's def noisier on full throttle. and the trackpad is nice but I actually like the joystick control - it actually is easier with scrolling w the left stick. I think the Ally X is probably a better fit but it's almost 2x what I paid open box for the Ally Extreme so it's a no go. I'm having to put handhelds on pause for now while things bake further & now looking at a palm PC (EM780) & even being enticed to get a used M1 mini as it's still fairly compact. but it's a hard decision as I really want this device to boot windows & Linux to complement my iPadPro. glad it is working out 4 u tho!

At 700 to 750 dollars for this level of hardware alone, these new handhelds are worth the price. I'm using my Go as a laptop to do my sculpting work on I zbrush, it's fantastic(especially if you get XR glasses to go with it). I don't need to lug a full laptop around anymore when I travel! They still have some wrinkles to iron out but there are lots of ways to work around it not having VRR using riva tuner and fps capping. Depending on the game I'll cap it to either 36 48 or 72 fps on 144z. Anything above 72 fps feels plenty smooth even without VRR.

It seems like you're running it the way it came out of the box, which is by default very low settings for performance, by changing some settings in the BIOS I am able to run a 27 inch 2560 x 1440 external display and run Death Stranding and Microsoft Flight Simulator on almost ultra settings with out an external GPU, just make sure to a make few changes to your bios settings before you get into load heavy titles and the Legion Go shines, to do so first press your power button when the device is off, then hold volume up, then choose bios settings, now that you're in the bios set up screen at bottom right of screen choose more settings then choose configuration, then change UMA frame buffer size to 8G, make sure maximum memory data clock speed is set to 7500 MT/S then make sure you have enabled SMT mode (multithreading mode) and lastly set you core number to 8, and games will run waaaaay better than out of the box as you do not get its full capabilities right out of the box. One extra thing to add on to someone looking to upgrade from a steam deck is you're no longer linux/windows gatekept. I have a steam deck and getting theLegion go was a liberating experience not having to worry about Linux compatibilty. I know you can boot windows off an sd card (which I have), but lets be honest, windows experience on the deck sucks and I'm convinced they abandoned future updates for that side. Love that the grips are detachable as I can use it as a travel computer with mouse/keyboard. I normally have a usb-c battery with me anyway so not too worried about battery life. The updates for Lenovo software have been pretty good. I can quickly switch from power-save to performance mode. I paid for the Dolby software to use my apple headphones that support dolby. That's definitely not the only reason. The Go isn't as good on the Go, as in handheld use. It's a handheld that is better, on a table top. A laptop is also better on a table top. That's just one reason beyond your only, nonsense. The Go markets itself as FPS focused, but if you play handheld, not table top, you still will do better with Steam Deck sticks, trackpads & gyro, which are better than the Ally, she prefers. Although, if it's an anti cheat title, then maybe Ally or Go are better than Deck dual booting. Sometimes even people that know, don't want to spend the additional time, not playing their game. I've heard that from more than reviewer, who definitely knows, but just want to play, when they aren't working.

I was very disappointed when I purchased the SD and went to play Gears of War and was unable to do so. Then a new Proton was release making it so I could finally play just for it to get messed up again. With the Go I'm not having those problems. The go offers hand held as an alternative but always fudges in favor of the table or desktop gameplay experience. It's a price conscious alternative to a laptop. It's for people who like the flexibility to go hand-held but don't consider it their central priority. The wildcard is whether screen size is going to compel people to ignore the ergonomic tradeoffs. I suspect alot of Samsung's cell phone success has come from screen size.

Torn between the Go and Ally. Borh have their pros and cons. I am a casual pc desktop user. But the idea of a handheld Windows is appealing. The large and medium size handhelds feels very familiar when I first purchased the OG Switch and the Switch lite. One being heavier than the other. I ended liking the lite more because it was easier to hold for a long period of the time. The OG Switch was more suited as a docking device for the tv. Go figure.

I just look at my iPad when I think of screen size. A decade ago, I would have preferred something that would fit in my pocket, as I would never carry a bag around with me. So yeah, I would have gone with a smaller handheld. Today the answer is the opposite, as I prefer larger screens, iPad being case in point, and going with the larger more vibrant options. Is it at portable for younger me? No, but its not him buying it either. Now just to get one of these companies to make a device with my ideal specs in mind, but its getting closer by the minute.

This unit with Windows runs like a well oiled machine. I've had it for almost 2 weeks now and haven't experienced a single crash or freeze, and is super snappy. I love the track pad and scroller. It boots up incredibly fast. The screen is is waay better than I thought it would be. It's friken gorgeous. I'm actually glad Lenovo didn't focus so much on audio because I plug in my Sony headphones. A really good audio system would just go to waste. Glad I didn't need to spend more for good on board speakers. I could Go on.......

I was looking at the Steam deck first but the lack of playable games turned me off.. can't play most games and no Xbox for PC games... The Ally just didn't work for me as well the design didn't work out too well for me and with the faulty SD card reader there wasn't a choice but to go for the Legion Go... I would have wanted a 1200p native screen over the 1600p one for the Legion Go but it doesn't bother me and removable controllers are not something I use normally but i do have to say the legion go is definitely a better device... I fixed the sound in the realtek settings with EQ and overall I really like it.. just the biggest issue of all imo is they should have added a 100wh battery instead of the 50wh battery for 3-4 hrs of gaming instead of 1-2 hrs currently.... it's already big and heavy and could have not been much more to add 100% more battery...

The Speakers are awful, and are the worst thing about the GO The screen size is both a pro and a con. It's a little too big for a handheld, but just right sitting on a desk or table. I don't like the placement of the Buttons. I don't the feel of the joycons went detached, they really need an adapter to make a single controller like the switch has. FPS Mode, I hated. If I had kept mine, I would have ditched the controllers, stuff them in the case, got a different case, and use it as an 8" tablet, keeping a wireless xbox controller, a small travel keyboard and mouse with me. The Legion Go wasn't for me. (I'm not saying it's bad, it just had to many cons for me to keep)

Lenovo legion go is more than just a gaming device. If you want to not only play on a handheld, but use it as a laptop or tablet, the LLG is the way to go. Anyone who only needs to play and doesn't care about tweaking things must buy a SteamDeck..I personally like that there are 3 quite different handhelds on the market. In my opinion, each of them will find their application. Steam deck for people who just need to play and not worry about how thing work. Asus Ally for people who need more performance and play games with anti-cheat. And Legion Go for those who need a device that doesn't look like always as a handheld

I think RetroGameCorps, Taki Udon or ThePhawx, for example are more comprehensive. I'm here because I'm a woman and there's just not enough women in this space, so that perspective is really important to me. She mentions it isn't comfortable, but even the dudes with their man hands find Deck and Ally better ergonomically. Watch everyone, even the bad ones, when you're buying. You don't ever know what tidbit or different perspective that aligns with yours that they might add that's useful and things which reaches consensus, hold a bit more weight.

My main complaint with the Legion Go is the battery life, it sucks that it's max life even with power efficiency on is like 2 maybe 2.5 hours but the screen and performance of this thing is so nice. I mainly emulate games on this thing since I use my main pc for most games especially FPS ones so my favorite thing to do is plop this thin up with it's kickstand, hook up my xbox controller and then just play Conker's Bad Fur Day, Pokemon Stadium, Ocarina of Time, etc. and it runs them so good. Even Dark Souls 3 and other newer games run really good on this thing. Best part is, if you're in the states prowl your local best buys for Open Box returns, you can find them for as low as $600 for the 1tb models and they're basically brand new. That's how I found mine at my local Best Buy.

This video just popped up in my recommended feed :P guess I've been watching too many Legion Go Reviews before I pulled the trigger and purchased mine lol After watching your video through I will say the FPS mode to me was a big pass, I couldn't be bothered to deal with playing FPS games like that, I rather just use a MnKB at that point. With that being said, I love this thing! It replaced my original Steam Deck from launch and I really appreciate not only having access to Xbox Game Pass natively but playing the handful of Steam Games in my library that weren't supported on the Steam Deck. The screen is GORGEOUS! I find the size, weight and control grips of this device to be very comfortable, then again I am a dude with big hands so It works out better for me I guess lol This was a well put together video! I see you last uploaded the Steam Deck OLED video and you sounded like you were having way more fun with that device, so I assume the Legion Go has been returned? Either way hope you enjoy your gaming through the Steam Deck OLED.

@bipbop3121

A screen that is only larger. OLED has better color gamut, etc. OLED is crisper, because it doesn't need to pay and rely on AMD to help with integer scaling firmware, that we don't even know if Lenovo is trying to get it. When you use the better APU, then you're experiencing the fuzzy screen, because you can't run that game at 1600p, & you're getting way less battery life, on something that gets less battery life even with comparable light gaming. Using it plugged in, you can get more performance on a laptop for less $

Well I think when you have other handhelds out like the Ally and the Steam Deck, it does matter, because that's what the Go is competing against. Yes, the Go is more than just a handheld, and you're right, no one is expecting any of these devices to sound like you're in a theater or something, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there are people out there (including me) who don't always want to wear headphones every single time they want to play.
