all these "new" Revell models 1/32 (Ju88, He 111, He-162, HE-219) were so enjoyable to build...unless you find out that you lack the space to store them properly ;-)

You can build a very simple diorama floor (concrete, grass, dirt, etc) as a base and make a clear case out of Lexan. That will protect the model from dust and accidents.

The black "framing" of the canopy was in fact a rubber sealing between the acrylic glass and the support structure. Therefore black strips should be applied to the INSIDE of the hood, with the fixing rivets attached to the outside. You can clearly see this on close-up photos of the original airplane. The upperside camouflage RLM 81 is just speculation. In fact the older color RLM 71 is much more likely.

Awesome video! How do you keep dust off your freshly painted surfaces?
@LucasVanderBartlett
7 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment but here is how I do it, 30 litre plastic storage unit (clear), 2 cheap PC fans 120mm, 2 120mm dust filters, USB wire, wire stripping tool, 120mm hole saw and hot glue. Cut 4 120 mm holes in the plastic storage unit with the saw, two on each side, hot glue two dust filters on one side, use the wire stripping tool to remove the fan wire covers and remove the female plugs, next cut one side of the USB wire off (make sure you still have the male USB plug) and strip the outside cover, which will reveal 4 wires, strip the black and the Red wires (dont worry about the other two) and twist the red and black wires together respectively, then use electrical tape to cover the exposed wire, now hot glue the two fans to storage unit on the *opposite* side of the storage unit to the dust filters making sure that the fans are blowing out and not into the storage unit. Now you can use a regular USB wall plug to power the fans. Every time use use it just wipe down the inside with a cloth and not only do you have a drying chamber with constant air movement but one which has minimal dust exposure. I hope this helps anyone reading the comments.

Why do you spray the whole model with a black coat prior to painting it the final color?
@johnjones-ch5sh
6 жыл бұрын
not the builder, but i use an all over colour as an 'undercoat' and as an opportunity to spot surface irregularities otherwise missable. Black is quite a nice colour to use, especially for review of surfaces prior to painting. Can be a problem in that it can make colours darker than you'd intended, so grey is perhaps a better option. But for silvers/metallics, black is great!

+LANE 109 check out EBAT, I got a GREAT compressor, hose, connections and gravity fed dual action airbrush from TCP GLOBAL, the entire setup for just over $70 US. Issuer, it is the best compressor I have ever had, very quite, reliable and the airbrush is as good as any $300 airbrush I've ever owned. I already hd an expensive airbrush, but I find myself using the "Master" airbrush that came with the set. And if your new to airbrushes, the airbrush comes with a complete "How To" book that will show you how to paint with it, clean and maintain it properly etc. Same for the compressor, it's got it's own instructional book s well for those just getting started with airbrushing. I am telling you, it's the best bargain I have ever enjoyed. Check it out, airbrushing will definitely improve the look on your models, AND you will save LOTS of paint. With that said, the complete kit will pay for itself. I'm 57 years old and have been modeling for a long time, and this TCP GLOBAL set up was the best deal I have ever recieved on a purchase. Good luck!

At the beginning when you say it was an extraordinary aircraft you couldn’t be further from the truth. It was powered by the unreliable bmw 003 engine what was prone to overheating. It also never went j to combat at they had just begun producing them by the end of the war. Otherwise it was a good video
@henryluebberstedt7819
4 жыл бұрын
I guess "extraordinary" means airframe design, flight characteristics, extremly short time from drawing board into production. Testpilot Eric Brown flew the He 162 and was deeply impressed: “In view of the fact that the He-162 never saw combat, we are left with the intriguing if purely academic question of how it would have made out if it had been used in anger. It would certainly have been an effective gun platform, and its small dimensions would have rendered it difficult to hit. Even if somewhat underpowered, it had a good performance… it could have certainly have run rings around the contemporary Meteor… but it was no aeroplane to let embryo pilots loose on, and it would have demanded more than simply a good pilot to operate it out of a small airfield. Nevertheless, as a back-up for the formidable Me-262 it could conceivably have helped the Luftwaffe to regain air superiority over Germany had it appeared on the scene sooner. Personally, I shall always recall the He-162 with affection as it gave me some exhilarating hours in the air, and I cannot help but feel that the Allies were fortunate for, had another month or two and the necessary fuel been available, the He-162 might well have got in amongst our bombers in numbers at a time when desperate measures might just have achieved sensational results” Eric Brown from “Wings of the Luftwaffe” pg.26
@adraen5942
4 жыл бұрын
Henry Luebberstedt I don't know where you got that, the he-162 did see combat, albeit in very small numbers, and was atrocious. Fragile wooden frame combined with easily over-heating engines led to losses being mainly due to operational failures, with only a handful from actually being shot down by ennemy airplanes. With proper production it could have been an excellent fighter, but it definitely wasn't
