The colour combination is so cool back then and don't forget the interiors had awesome chrome and sometimes three colours. I think the Oldsmobile, Buick, Pontiacs in those three years were fantastic, styling achievements for GM. It's no surprise that they dominated the market. You did a awesome build and I loved the way the undercarriage looks just as much as the body. Haven't mentioned it before but you always paint everything, even what is not seen! I do the same but I've seen modellers who do everything you can see but do things like not painting the headliner, inner fenders or underside of the hood.

The interiors are awesome to look at. Driving some of them is a different story. My wagon, all of the switches are chrome metal. In Az in the summer when it’s over 100. They will burn your hands. They are easy to keep clean. My Dads 58 Thunderbird has so much chrome in it. While most of the knobs are plastic. When the sun is rising or setting. It can reflect off the chrome and blind you! I really like many of the interiors back then. Not like today when everything is charcoal, grey, or tan.

@joakimkarlsson9255

@@TheMuscleCarModeler yep, i saw that one. I just feel that a '57 nomad would be an obvious choice for mainstream manufacturers. Revell has done fairly recent toolings for almost every version of the '57 Chevy exept the nomad (and the four doors). The MCW body is tempting though.

As a kid of the 60s there was a movie called hot rods to hell. And when ever me and my friends played on our bikes I was always the 56 Chevy not the vette. I thought the 56 looked cool no front bumper front end was up a little higher with chrome reverse. And it was black so I know 56s are the least favorite but that movie for me made the 56 my favorite. My brother has a 55 and he likes the 56 better childhood memories. Also nice build.

1958 also introduced the two piece driveshaft with a center bearing. This was done to accommodate a lower passenger compartment center hump. The lower hump allowed center consoles and more leg room in the front and rear seats. In late 1961 the 409 was introduced and center bearings were ripped out when racing. The center bearings and 2 piece driveshafts lasted until 1965. P.S. my memory may be off on the dates

Nomad is based off hard top platform and the 2 and 4 door wagons are based of a sedan platform that's why the windshield are shorter. 56 produced did 6 cly with automatic my uncle had one. I thank it's a option. That Nomad kit has cast iron Powerglide

That is a lovely build! i was close to owning a basic 55 four door Chevy........ the owner asked if i would swap my 71 Duster i had for sale due to him not having the cash to buy.... I said yes but he changed his mind... it makes me laugh that the Rare Chevys often more built than Mopar abd AMC ...72 Roadrunner just ove 6k.... 60 something 71 Hemi RR...... or how about the AMC Hpornet SC360 below 300 only...... that is a great looking build!

Thanks. When it comes to the numbers. Back in the 50s Chevy kept track of how many bodies they made. They also kept track of how many engines they made but not how many were installed in what. So no way of knowing how many 57 Nomads had the Fuelie engine. The vin doesn’t tell you either. Very easy to fake.

I was referring to the model kits. The 56 Del Ray kit and the Revell Bel Air Sedan but I was thinking of it as a 57 210 model. The Del Ray is a base model for 56. The 210 is in between the Del Ray and the Bel Air.
