Thanks 👍. It works for me. Also I tend to do more than one model at a time. So I will load up my airbrush with the semi gloss black. Then as you saw I mount the parts to a piece of cardboard. You see the cardboard panels for the Chevelle in this video. What you don't see is another set of panels with the 87 GNX parts on it. That way I don't mix the kit parts up and I do more than one kit at a time. I learned that the hard way. I used to put all the black parts on one piece but then it was hard to figure out what starter went to what kit!

Thanks! I have been asked to show how I build. I have been doing it this way so long that I didn't think anything about it. It works great for me. Everyone builds differently in some way and there is no right or wrong way to do it really.

You bet! Some have asked me to show more of how I build and what steps I take. I don't think it is anything special and never really thought about it. I have been building for a long time so it is second nature to me. Their is no right or wrong way to build really so if it works for you then great!

Good question! I didn't think the AMT was that bad. The body on the AMT 70-72 is much worse! The AMT 69 has it's flaws too mainly the 68 trim that is still on the body.
@Sherman62

@@TheMuscleCarModeler Well, mostly the tail lights on the AMT 69. I like their old kits but that was messed up. And never got fixed? Weird. I hadn't noticed the side trim. lol.

You mentioned using Testor's primer. Do you use enamel in a rattle can or do you airbrush acrylic in a bottle?
@TheMuscleCarModeler
Жыл бұрын
I was using Testor's Model Master Enamel in the 3oz bottle. I was airbrushing it. It has been discontinued and I have one bottle left but switched to Scale Finishes Super Primer. I'm having a little trouble getting a smooth finish with it though. Sometimes I get what I want and sometimes it dries to fast and I get a texture. If I thin it too much, I don't get good coverage. So I'm trying to get my technique down.

Great Video!!! You knowas soo as you finish your build Revell will announce a 69 Yenko version.
@TheMuscleCarModeler
4 жыл бұрын
Yes! And they have done that to me before! But I all ready had most of these parts to build the Yenko with the AMT kit but didn't get to it yet! Revell got me with the 66 Impala SS 396 and the 72 Hurst Olds convertible. I had more expensive resin kits of both when they issued there kits. I did build the resin 72 Olds convertible as a regular 442 W30. The 66 Impala I sold on eBay.

Really looking forward to this build!,i ordered 2 online yesterday i plan a yenko in Olympic gold and i bought a resin flat hood from Missing LInk for the revell chevelles and want to build a 69 Malibu not sure what engine use for a 307.

Cool! Not sure on the 307 though. Any 350 should work but finding the plain valve covers and air cleaner may be an issue.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler actually i found the valve covers in the 1970 Camaro Amt released in 1990,and the 72 chevy fleetside has the correct middle part of the aircleaner that can be kitbashed and Rayskits..com has the correct aircleaner decal.

You can use any 265, 302, 307, 327, or 350 SBC engine block for your 307-cid build-up. The external dimensions on full-scale SBC engine block castings were essentially the same. The exception is the 400-cid SBC block, which had three freeze plugs on each side of the block as opposed to the usual two per side. The different engine displacements were achieved internal to the block by playing with the cylinder bore diameters and crankshaft stroke length, which you won't need to worry about when building your 1/25-scale model. 😄👍🇺🇸

Does the grille fit better on the ´69? Or is it really tight like on the ´68?

@@TheMuscleCarModeler Several builders seems to have had problems getting the grill to fit. I did test fit the grill on mine, as well as the rest of the kit. I guess when a kit is so nicely engineered, a small "glitch" like that stands out :D. All in all this is definetly one of Revell´s best efforts to date. I´ll buy at least one more ´68, as well as the new ´69.

Mark Lanoux so far on this one it’s Testors Enamels. Model master from the jars, thinner and airbrushed.
