Excited to see this kit come back out. Earlier issues of this kit, even from the 2000s, are hard to find and kinda expensive if you do. So now I'm gonna get four of these lol. Those early second-gen F-Bodies are my favorite. Such great, gorgeous cars!

Haha, something similar happened to me, sort of. In 2003 I bought a 1972 Challenger and for some reason this car seemed familiar to me. I dug out my box of old models I had made as a kid and lo and behold I had a Plum Crazy Purple Dodge Challenger that was a ‘73-‘74 model. It was from the Otaki Rock Machine series with rear rubber tires and was motorized. Only difference from the ‘72 model body wise was the addition of “bumperettes” for federal safety standards. This was cool because ‘72-‘74 Challengers were not as popular as the ‘70-‘71 Challengers and model kits of the ‘72-‘74 Challengers are very hard to find. The one I built was from about 25 years prior (and it was the only model car I ever built with my brother who made an Otaki Thunderbird) and it was from the no longer in existence Otaki Japanese mode company which became Fujimi. It’s a rare model and the fact that 25 years later I had the real car it was based on I thought was such a funny coincidence.

My son gave me around 15 vintage plastic airplane model kits (some still wrapped) he found while working at the landfill. I've been thinking of getting back into building models for a hobby so my question is should I buy new or just build those older ones? From my memory when I was a kid building models the parts never fit together well and I was wondering if the newer models are better.

My sister had a 1970 Trans Am . She brought it new very similar to this model. It didn't have the bird on the front and it came with Polyglass GT tires the blue patches were a little more rounded at the corners and I don't believe the edges of the blue were darker . It was an automatic with blue interior the transmission shifted hard even under normal acceleration ( no gentle slip into the next gear) . Brings back memories.

@@pontiacmaniac7772 70 T/As were 12 bolts. Only yr Pontiac used them. Your 95 10 bolt is much weaker than the 2nd gen 10 bolts, altho compared to a Ford 9", or a Mopar 8 3/4, "all" GM rears suck. (then again, if you were to find a 58-62 Pontiac, Olds rear, you would have something to brag about.)

Thanks for the review! Very cool kit! I like to make some of my models of either cars my family had or from movies. I had this kit about 10 years ago and made a replica of the Trans Am from the David Carradine movie, “Cannonball”. I used the blue stripe and then outlined that stripe with yellow and then got letters from a crafts store and wrote the Cannonball letters on the side of the car. The included decal sheet had enough decals for the hi-po parts stickers on the side.

I bought this kit today… When you go to put the interior on the subframe… it has two female points and in the directions it shows the interior tub has two male parts that are supposed to go together. I did not have the male connectors…. And I noticed on yours as well… that you didn’t have the little nubs…..how did you fix that problem and compensate for it…..could you let me know please. You are one of the best… I just turned 42 this year… I probably built about 8-10 models in my life.. My dad got me into it…I have been looking for something to stimulate ME… in the evenings after work… So I bought 4 model cars from Hobby lobby… I have completed three of them… ready to finish the Foose… 65….Impala…..And I am getting ready to start the 70 Firebird… If you could give me some insight on this problem and how to modify it… I would love it.. Very nice tutorial. I just ordered this kit today. One thing I don't like is the box art. It says firebird. But the car displayed is a trans am. Having alot of 1:1 scale Firebirds and trans ams in my day. I can tell you that there is no such thing as a "Firebird-Trans Am" it's either "firebird" or "trans am". Basically. To make this kit better. Either change the box art to Trans Am. Or have the body molded as a true plain jane Firebird. Simple.

If Revell USA ever re-tools and re-issues the 1/32 scale Peterbilt 352 COE snap-tite kit,you should do a full build review on it;because alot of people have disliked push/snap together kits for their of soft detail;or lack there of,brittle plastic, and peel n ' stick vinyl stickers. With today's molding technology snap kits are even more detailed;and easier to paint and build (gluing is optional),than they were decades ago. They are still being issued;with the peel n' stick vinyl stickers for those who are a novice/new to modeling, and now includes an optional water slide decal sheet;for the more advanced/experienced modelers.

I decided to do a mini drift car. 28th scale. And got a extended chassis. Just to make this car. Solely on watching all your videos after I looked into some scale bodies. Man you do a great job. I'm 50 years old. I used to build these on rainy days way back in the day. In the '80s. What was that hobby shop in the mall HobbyTown. Frog grasshopper you name it. And then didn't touch the model cars after discovering girls until I had my own sons. My mother actually had my tamaya hot tricks Fox completely customized used to race it. And I had that mako shark Corvette top that was on like a Walmart chassis. Well I've got tons of us see trucks. Serious ones you beat the hell out of. But this winter we did a Honda monkey Bike model. Just going through it and trying to keep my son from rushing. Been making him understand that preparation makes everything. Teachable moment that's cool. I've watched all your videos man you do a great job. I want to put or make my own wide body calf hips. I've already got a sheet of abs. Cuz they make my own bumpers for my eighth scale truggy and other trucks. What would be the best putty to use. I have some JB weld around the house but use it all the time. My boys are into dirt bike BMX RC cars everything and they break everything so. I also have fiberglass and fiberglass body filler. From fixing a friend's tub. Would I be okay either using both of those. Or be too much sanding. What could you recommend for a party to do the calf hips and make it meet up with the front bottom spoiler. I watch the repop of the rat fink cars. Hot rods with the helmet you did in Chrome. I was going to go white and blue. But now I'm thinking maybe Chrome and black and try to do pinstriping. Like on the old school boats and stuff cause the people did and putting the name on the door handle right about it. Yeah I'm going to take my time with this any suggestions would be great. If I could send you my email or. Text. Would be great. I got an idea if you have a hobby shop. These little cars changed the whole game could bring these models back. I'm hoping my product comes out nice I know the body work will look good it's just painting. Cop on the drywall for 30 years and I yeah arthritis kicks in quickly. And what would be a good masking. I've used vaseline on my tires to make white wall and then wipe it off after it dries they're not on little models on mini bikes and stuff but anyways I'm sorry for the book. I've watched so many videos you do a really good job you get an attaboy. Those don't get thrown around the Northeast too often peace out man God bless

Looks great. Did you spray it with clear coat? I was just working on this model kit today and sprayed it with Testors 1245 Gloss White. It was looking really good but then I sprayed it with Rustoleum 2x Painter's Touch gloss clear and it all went to crap. Orange peel and some paint thinning on the hood to the point where I can see streaks of the gray primer underneath. Trying to figure out where I screwed up before I wet sand again and repaint. Maybe the gloss white needed more time to dry? I only waited 15 minutes after the final coat of white. Maybe it was too hot and dry on this July day and that vaporized the clear? I sprayed it outside and out of the sun before bringing it back inside to dry. Maybe try a Testors or Tamiya clear spray instead? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have no way to provide discounts, etc as I don't own those stores. Thanks for watching!

So super new to all this. I'm currently trying a '69 chevy nova ss for my dad because he talks about how he had one back in the day alot. I don't have anything setup due to just starting so I painted outside. The hood got messed up.. I assume to humidity? If I were to set up a spray booth like you in the garage would that help? Or not even worth the effort? I have a "hobby" room in the basement but not one I can set up a booth in...

All the booth does is catch overspray. It has no effect on quality of the paint job.

@@hpiguy oh okay. I suppose running back and forth will be the only solution here sadly. As long as it works I guess

Nice job and good looking kit. How long do you let the Rustoleum Prime sit for? I have used it, only thing I can get locally, but have had some issues with it in the past. I know it doesn't seem to like Metallica paint, especially the Dupli Color.

The primer only dries for 30 minutes max. I've even painted over it while still sticky at times. I know that sounds crazy but it works for me.

If that wasn't sitting on your work bench, and had some outdoor scenery behind it, I would say it looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Looks like the real deal. Excellent work.
