I really wish the movie was more like the novelization. ROTS will always be one of my favourite movies, but this novel fills in so many of the film's gaps and apparent plot holes

@@DayTripperrr year old reply, I know, maybe plot holes wasn’t the most accurate term… Still, things in the movie make a lot more sense with the novel as a companion: Anakin being so angry at not being made a master was because he wanted access to the restricted section of the archives, and Obi Wan seemingly not being aware of Anakin’s super obvious relationship with Padme was because he looked the other way for Anakin’s happiness.

I can understand Anakins anger. He's being promoted only to spy on Palpy, not for his efforts or accolades, and isn't given the honor of master status, only to that of a bus boy

@@godofthecripples1237The movie can't be 4 hours long, so things need to be cut. The real question is if this was kept, what could be cut instead? The movie is very lean but still long, and there's not much that's not important. This scene actually is in the movie. He visited her twice. Once before he left for Grevious, and again after order 66. They just can't have a conversation like they do in a novel

Clone Wars S7 pretty much confirms that Obi-Wan knew that Anakin and Padme were together, but he kept his mouth shut because he thought it was the one thing that kept Anakin happy (and probably from falling completely to the Dark Side), especially after Anakin losing his mother and Ahsoka leaving the Order.

And this is why Obi Wan embodied the failures of the Old Order. Telling someone to abandon their true love for a religion, purely out of preserving that religion's power, is the definition of evil. Notice he wants them to abolish their relationship only because they noticed that the Prophesy says he technically doesn't have to be a Jedi. Which makes them look bad.

Except it wasn't just a religion, you got people with powers equivalent to weapons of mass destruction that quite literally can destroy society and cause suffering. The jedi/force sensitive people needed to be held to a different standard than most.
