If the water pressure into your RO System is too low, then you'll need to purchase a "Boost Pump". If a flow restrictor is blocked, then your RO membrane will become clogged more easily and you'll also notice INCREASED TDS readings. The link provided below is the BEST deal for a 5 stage RO system that includes an extra set of filters. Thanks for watching! amzn.to/2Qk5C6F (Amazon Affiliate Link)

I have looked at numerous other videos and after watching yours through to the end I finally isolated the problem. It was the spring loaded check valve on the corner outlet of the 4th filter stuck shut, hence no clean water to the final filter and tank/tap. I cleaned this and checked it worked by blowing through. I will visit my local fontenera here in Spain to buy a new one. A very big thank you to your excellent video....chapeau.

Best system tutorial on KZitem after all this time. My tank pressure was low and even lowered it further in ignorance as I was clueless. Put in 7 psi and voila, back to normal. I like the way every part is explained in detail and the why is also offered to the viewer. I now have more confidence in dealing with reverse osmosis and can explain to my other half the intricacies that beset the operation of this aquatic filtration apparatus.

This video was very helpful to understand the breakdown of the components in an RO system, their functions and how they are interconnected. Here you go, lessons I learned the hard way (my ASO value would not operate correctly): 1) Make SURE you understand the IN & OUT ports and hook up the lines correctly to ASO valve. 2) Use ONLY hard lines to interconnect (dont use clear lines from home depot, they are too soft and value wont shutoff correctly). 3) Keep all hard tube lengths to ASO value as short as possible. 4) On all connections make sure the tubes push all the way down 5) On all post carbon filters, post filters, etc...dont plug directly into these filters, first always use a push in connector then push your tube into those connectors. I did all above and fixed my ASO value RO system operation.

THANK YOU!!! I ordered a cheap RO system (under $100). It came with little to no instructions highlighting that it should be installed by a professional. It came with a roll of white tube, not the pretty color coded ones like other systems. I watched many RO installation videos, but knowing the why makes all the difference. Now that I know what does what, I can confidently install this puppy. It didnt come with a tap for the dirty water so off the I go to the hardware store. I have a plant room in the back of the house. I was thinking of splitting the RO feed, running a line through the attic (insulated no doubt) and into the back room to my reservior tank. Distance of about 50 feet. What are your thoughts. Will normal water pressure make the run?

At 13:05, when you blow through the check valve, should you get a smooth air coming out the other end? I blow through my check valve and I do feel air coming out the other end, but not strong air coming out comparing to the pressure that I'm blowing. When I blow from the other end where the pink ring is, no air is coming out the other end, so the check valve is working. I'm having very low water rate coming out of the check valve and I'm trying to figure out the problem.

Thanks for making a great video, you taught me so much. I can now tackle my own RO issue of low water output. Had just one question for you. I noticed you haven't any calcite filter between the final stage taste and odor filter and your sink faucet. I was always told that you need a calcite filter there to put back into your water some healthy minerals which also enhance the RO water taste. RO water taste is very bland normally because the system removes so much of the good minerals along with the bad. Love to hear any thoughts you have on this. Thanks again.

I think that mineral 'filter' also prevents the water from being too ionically 'hungry'. Like they say, never buy distilled water in a plastic container because it will leach plastic. I don't have one because i'm afraid it'd fill up my Keurig with calcium...but maybe i should anyway.

Great video. One question: I have a 5 stage and it’s probably 8 months old. I checked our pressure at the outside faucet and we were about 40psi. While our RO faucet has plenty of pressure, I noticed pretty quickly that the drain line would run pretty regularly after or during using the faucet. Is this a low pressure issue or how the RO system works? Thanks!
@electronicsNmore
5 жыл бұрын
When you drain water out of the tank, the pressure drops. The pressure drop turns on the flow of water into the RO membrane, and the waste water goes down the drain.
@Hossir
2 жыл бұрын
If your RO discharge waste water "during or after" using the RO facet, it would likely means that your RO storage tank air pressure is running low. Check tank air pressure. Pump it to between 7 and 8 psi. Tank air pressure low means tank is water is full while RO keeps trying to fill it thinking that it is empty even when it is not. Tank air pressure high means tank water is low but RO won't turn on to fill it thinking that it is full. Try lifting the tank. If the tank feels full while the RO keeps turning on at every use then the tank air pressure is either low or that the diaphragm is broken. If the tank feels empty while the RO turn on for just a few minutes then shut off, then the tank air pressure is too high.

how much pressure should you have to use to blow through the check valve in the direction of water flow? I have a new ISpring RCC7, which I have had nothing but problems with. I was sent two new check valves. One of which, I could barely blow through in the direction it should be open. On the other, I could blow through it if I used very quick, short bursts that actually made my head hurt, and made my cheeks hurt like I was blowing into a trumpet or something. I don't know how hard you should have to blow through these check valves, but I think if I "tested" them too much, I might give myself an aneurysm.... I think this system I installed is pretty cheaply made....

My RO system was hissing for a few hours and then suddenly it's constantly draining water now. Tank is empty and not filling up. The drain tube has condensation so it's high pressure water constantly flowing. As soon as I shut off the water, the drain stops. How much pressure would you think is pushed out of the drain line? The house I bought has the under the sink style RO directly under the kitchen sink in the basement mounted on the wall half way up. The drain line has to go up about 10' to drain at the sinks plumbing. My water TDS readings are as if the RO is doing absolutely nothing. Could the drain line be backing up into the system, skewing my TDS readings? The system was plumbed wrong when I moved in, so I straightened all that out, sanitized, and got new filters. Still poor TDS results.

@@electronicsNmore I'm on a shared well in a subdivision, it's about 500 PPM. Only getting 480 after RO. I had bought a whole new system and just finished installing under the sink. About to turn water on and see what's what.

@@electronicsNmore I get better results from my Brita picher than the RO. So I'm just giving up on that unit. Just dumped the 2nd tank on new system, waiting for it to refill before testing TDS.

I have a question, i looked at my 5 stage RO system and notice from the 2nd stage canister it went straight to auto shut off valve, then to membrane, and then goes to post carbon, then back down to 3rd stage canister, then from 3rd stage canister, I see 1/4" tube straight into my faucet, is my RO system being set up wrong? I thought the 1/4" suppose to come out from post carbon and not from the 3rd stage :(

Low out put volume of water. How do I know it’s my pressure tank or membrane? First was thinking it was a bad tank. Left sink Faucet open till no water. Tank was heavy as if full of water. Took tank outside and opened the valve. Water came out for many minutes as if no issues. Picked tank up and shook. Felt empty and light. So now I am thinking it’s the membrane. Please educate me.

For the pressure tank, just drain out all the water and make sure the pressure is correct(6 to 8 psi). If you have low water production, then either your filter stages before the RO are clogged(especially the first filter connected to the water supply), or you need a new membrane. You can also try to backflush the RO membrane.

Hi, I'm troubleshooting my RO. My problems may be two or threefold which makes troubleshooting really hard. I bought two of those restrictor valves. They are exactly like the ones in your video. I cannot blow through either of them like you instruct. I'm having a hard time completely believing I received TWO faulty units, AARRRGGGG!!!! Maybe there is a 'break in' period?

I have problem with my 5 steps RO. Water is flowing continuosly to the drain. Following different articles about RO, I changed the shut of valve for new brand, I found the check valve in the membrane housing in good condition, I empty the tank and changer it with 8 psi of air. The bladder is in good condition. I do not find the solution. I appreciate any help Gustavo Bulla

+tavin5000 If water continues to flow into the drain even after the tank is full, then 100% you have a faulty valve or faulty check valve like the one I replaced in the video. I suggest you recheck everything. There is no other cause.

+electronicsNmore oh I see... I think the best way to stop wasting water is use the right pump. Vitev came out with a water optimizer pump. 1:1 ratio for 100% of tank fill. That's the system I'm getting.
