Maybe I'm weird for this but I've always preferred the Charger over the Challenger. Putting a 707hp engine in a 4 door car with plenty of space in the back with heated seats is an amazing option. I love it

Pretty much the same reactions I had reviewing a 2015. It is hard to argue the basic points this car makes: Under 70K, warranty, 707hp! The auto is on the ball and the straight line fun is practically unmatched.

I'd still prefer the CTS-V over a Hellcat. Call me crazy haha. Dodge's automatic transmission is what steals the show, obviously the power difference/roots blower whine as well.
@TheDutchTexan

I have driven and reviewed the 2009 CTS-V but haven't had a go in the most current model. But I am quite sure I would love it. But, again the price... 20 grand buys a lot of gas and definitely some stickier tires. (ok, and a B woody intake, the hellcat I drove had that intake and man it brings that whine to the front!)

i'd rather get a 2013-14 gt500. about the same price or much cheaper, exact same 0-60 in a lighter car. (lighter than the challenger hc as well.) but thats my opinion. i know the challenger has more power but the 662hp and 631lb-ft gt500 is good enough for me considering they have the same top speed.

Chevy's had that since 2009 in the Cadillac CTS-V.. Sure it's not as powerful (556 hp vs. 707) yet the Caddy does look tons better. The interior is garbage with Dodge. The Hellcat's transmission is what truly shines overall.
@vernonprice5986
6 жыл бұрын
Well the new CTS-V is 640 HP and is a match for the hellcat in a straight line, but completely destroys it around a track or any kind of turn. That's why the CTS-V will always be better than the hellcat, in addition to better build quality and higher quality materials - the CTS-V is a real performance sedan in the vein of the M5, while the hellcats are just straight line muscle cars that really don't handle well. I have a gen 2 CTS-V with about 700 HP, and I would drive that any day of the week over any hellcat. I've driven both, and the CTS-V - previous and current gen - are higher quality cars with better handling.
@vernonprice5986
6 жыл бұрын
+Irit8ed - "I think you guys are missing the point of the HC" So pointing out facts like how it doesn't handle well and how it has low quality materials is "missing the point"? How about this: We're not missing the point, we're actually describing some very real flaws with the car. "ts not about better. Better is up to the buyer to determine" If it's not about better, then that explains why you drive s Smart car. Right? "The HC does what it was designed for really well." It was designed to go in a straight line and nothing else. That's exactly what we have been saying. " I traded a CTS-vsport for my HC.. I understand there a massive difference in a v-sport and "V", but I wouldn't go back for anything," But now you're attempting to draw false equivalency between a 420 HP Vsport and a 640 HP CTS-V that does everything massively better than the Vsport. Yes the hellcat is faster than the vsport, which is why you wouldn't go back to the vsport. The CTS-V is an entirely different animal, and it's not any slower than the hellcat, and handles much MUCH better than the hellcat. So if you were to drive them both back to back, it's safe bet that you would not want to go back to the hellcat, because the hellcat provides an inferior driving experience. "CUE was and abortion compared to U-Connect, my heated seats actually heat in the Charger unlike my caddy, you couldn't even feel those things." CUE has gotten much better, but the issue with CUE was mostly that people were being idiots about it and pressing on the chrome guide bars and expecting them to do something. You can even see it in videeo reviews, these dumbasses keep pushing on the chrome guide bars, then complain that CUE doesn't work. And as far as heated seats, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Mine get so hot you have to turn them off, if you put them in the hottest setting. So you have to understand what we're talking about here. The hellcats are designed to go fast in a straight line... and that's it. People like me demand more out of a performance car than going fast in a straight line.
@jaikarchatha1967
6 жыл бұрын
Vernon Price true if money was no option then I'd get the cts-v but it is depending on options is $15,000-$20,000 dollars more but I don't think I could give up my charger Hellcat for the CTS-V at this current time
@vernonprice5986
6 жыл бұрын
+Jaikar Chatha - Sure, I understand that the CTS-V is more expensive. It's also a much better car. There is no comparison with build quality and interior quality. Dodge is making their muscle cars as cheaply as humanly possible, which is why you can get a hellcat for $65k - and it shows in the cheap materials they use. The CTS-V is an entirely different class of interior, everything is soft touch and solid. You're not paying the extra money for nothing. And then there's the platform, the chassis and the handling, which nobody can beat. You really are getting a lot more car for your money than you are with the hellcat. I also found the lower pricing on the hellcats attractive until I drove one. It's still great value for money, it's still very fast in a straight line, but man is it missing any kind of finesse, balance, precision, all the stuff that makes a great driver's car is missing. It's essentially just a big engine in a really cheap Challenger/Charger body.. And I'd rather go with something like an ATS-V for the same $65k, even though the ATS-V is less powerful - it's a vastly better driver's car. The only thing the hellcats really have going for them is power, and I mean... straight line speed is really, really easy these days. I think it's better to start on a great driving platform and then add more power if you want it.

I am a Ford man and I personally love what dodge has done with the demon and hellcat, y cuz MURRICA but if I had to choose ctsv or hellcat sorry dodge v is more reliable. Also Ford needs to make a powerful v8 rwd car maybe the continental can get air ride, extended wheelbase and a coyote with 10 speed auto to compete cuz with rwd a v8, extended wheelbase and air ride it isn't truly an American luxury car

PUT IT THIS WAY. THE HC IS ONLY COMPARED TO 2 DOOR CARS SO EVERY COMPARISON IS TECHNICALLY UNFAIR BUT NECESSARY BECAUSE IT OUT PERFORMS EVERY CAR IN ITS “CLASS”. THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPARE IT TO A CTSV, SUPERCAR, OR ANY OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE CARS IS NOTHING BUT A COMPLIMENT. OH YEAH AND STOP IT WITH THE HANDLING THING. UNLESS YOU ARE A CIRCUIT RACER, YOU HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH HANDLING ABILITY IN THE HC. AGAIN, YOU WOULD HAVE TO CONSIDER A CAR THAT IS MORE EXPENSIVE AND/OR OUT OF ITS CLASS TO START POINTING OUT NEGATIVE HANDLING ABILITIES ON THIS CAR. IF I HAD A CIVIC OR WRX OR HURACÁN THEY WILL HANDLE BETTER, BUT THEY ARENT IN THE SAME CLASS ANYWAY SO THE COMPARISON FOR LACK OF BETTER EXAMPLES AND/OR COMPETITORS.

So Ford claimed that the 2018 mustang gt can do 0 to 60 under 4 seconds with all the performance option equipped. So far I haven't see any amateur youtube driver able to achieve that with their new stocked mustang. Actually a lot of them only getting 4.5 to 5 second range. I understand a lot of other factors has to take into consideration such as weather and warm up the tire for faster launch. But under the same condition and environment, would you say a AWD system with same horsepower would achieve much more stable and consistent acceleration time? Everybody that test drive a Mercedes E63S or the new BMW M5 seems able to launch really well and stable. When Carwow did the Drag comparison of the same 2018 BMW M5, they set one car with AWD and the other one with RWD, and the AWD M5 just took off and sprint ahead while the RWD M5 slipped left and right with lots of smoke and trailing behind so far away. In this matter, if I just want a car that run fast in straight line like able to pass car on the highway, or beat other car from the start before the traffic light, would you say that getting AWD performance car would serve this purpose way better? Because to me it looks like the only good part for a RWD is be able to drift, which I'm not interested at all. I'm sorry this is such a long question, but I would really love to hear your input and experience on this. Thank you very much!

Master Wang Did the videos you watch include the auto, because the Auto is the only GT that can achieve that 0-60.

The 2018 Mustangs are only capable of that 4 second 0-60 in an automatic performance pack car with MagneRide with the drag mode and launch control engaged. If you're in an automatic and using launch control, 0-60 times should be consistent. Wheelspin depends on the car's launch tuning, the quality, width and warmth of the tires, the conditions of where you're launching it, etc. I'd say an AWD car could launch harder and faster more consistently without having to worry about those factors as much. I'd argue that getting rid of wheelspin gets rid of the fun factor though. High-G accelerations in stuff like the GT-R are fun and will win races, but isn't as dramatic as the launch in something like the Hellcat in this video. It's just a choice of what's fun to you, but after owning both RWD and AWD cars, I've found the RWD ones to be more fun to me personally. Spinning my tires and going a little slower is more exciting to me than going super fast for 4 seconds and then having to slam the brakes. All comes down to personal preference though.

I Don’t understand why you always use the paddle shifters when reviewing its a automatic at least let us see the natural shifting responsiveness and most buyers rarely even use them I myself own a 2017 2SS manual and previously owned a 2015 challenger SRT (manual) its a disservice to not show the car as most people will drive them not just how you like to but i do love your videos and I do subscribe. As a side note you also cause the cars to drone when you are holding the gears in low such as in your hellcat widebody review which is why people watching are always asking about the drone. Just saying, not criticizing but this is still my #1 favorite channel.

It’s only a good daily driver if you live in a place that doesn’t snow and you’ve got open roads to really appreciate the performance. I was about to buy one but I’m glad I didn’t since it’s way too much car for what my daily needs are. 35 mph 7 mile round trip every day. I settled for the Scat Pack and even that can be too much car especially with the horrible Michigan weather.

Since you just reviewed a Charger hellcat I was hoping maybe you can review the charger scatpack? You did a review on the challenger scatpack and I’m in the market right now, so I’m debating which one to go with. I would highly appreciate it

Dodge is not getting the love it deserves yet. They're some of the (if not the) most unique and cool cars on the road. They're not that expensive, and provide an insane amount of value. I'm not sure what there is to not like at this point.

The end of GM’s SS & Ford cut out their sedans, Charger will only be the last American full size sedan.
