Absolutely love my 2024 premium as my daily driver. 10k miles so far. I’ve also owned my 2014 STi for 5 years now. My crosstrek feels luxurious compared to the STi, so I have zero complaints. I don’t expect to drive it fast, so the power level isn’t even a thing in my head. I get about 37 mpg highway and I can drive 8 hours on one tank of gas. It’s truly an amazing vehicle that can do it all. No complaints- exactly what I’ve needed as a daily.

Matt, my favorite part of your reviews is when you live with the car for a week and report back. To me that’s so incredibly insightful as to the long term usability of a vehicle. 2 Notes: I had always heard that the Crosstrek was fairly quiet on the freeway, but this one was so loud. Also that rattle in the dash was heard all throughout the video and like you, would have drove me crazy to the point of selling it! Lol. As always a thorough review. ✌️

I just bought my CT Premium 3 weeks ago. I live in Chicago and I don't do much of off-road stuff. I'm just your average city dweller that needs a car for work, groceries, etc. I love it I had my old car for 10 years (not a Subaru) but it was time to retire it. Tried Honda CRV and the Toyota Corolla Cross in addition to the Crosstrek. All I can say is that I'm a Crosstrek owner and loving it.

I've driven the FB20 and FB25 Crosstrek back to back. The extra 30 hp is felt throughout the rev range, especially with the low end torque and meatier mid-range. Honestly Subaru should drop the 2 liter.

last summer i was driving a 2016 civic with the 2 liter engine. 155 hp and 140 or so lbft. now im driving a 2010 outback 2.5 with the ej25. its only 165hp and 165lbft, but that extra torque is really nice at low and medium speeds. at highway speeds it still falls flat on its face, but the civic did the same. i can only imagine its the same between the fb20 and fb25.

2024 Crosstrek limited (and 2020 forester limited) owner here. Absolutely love them. Crosstrek touchscreen is sluggish sometimes but the rest of it is absolutely beautiful. Plenty of ground clearance. I know cvt is not proven technology yet but Im being gentle with it as that's my driving style anyway. I am not an off-roader but awd capabilities will be tested fully in Canadian winters. Forester has been great so far in winter

I would love to skip the higher trims, and save that coin, but the 2.0L is just not enough engine in mountainous high altitude areas like Utah and Colorado. I would have to have the 2.5L, which starts harming the value proposition. I wish Subaru would offer the 2.5L on the Premium trim.
@MattMaranMotoring
7 ай бұрын
I totally agree that you need all the power you can get at those higher elevations, but I really doubt the 2.5 would move the needle much in those conditions. If it were me I'd just get an Outback XT for the much more beneficial turbo in those higher elevations and go used if necessary.
@robob221

@@MattMaranMotoring value proposition is key. Subaru’s turbo options locked behind high level fancy trims is too important for there profit margins. Offering what Subaru fans really want will keep them relevant in the next 10 years. It’s not 2010 anymore, this 2.5NA standard option should be paired with a hybrid system to catch up with big brands like Honda or Toyota. I see Toyota merging more with Subaru any day now to keep them relevant. I could not swallow the car payments on a Impreza or Crosstrek simply due to its mediocre efficiency. You pay more now with higher interest rates and saddled with an inefficiency car compared to hybrid counterparts that still offer competent Awd options for snow belts states. Put snow tires on if you live in heavier snow area and that triumphs Subaru’s AWD sophistication for raw traction.

My GF has a ‘21 limited. She saw the updated tablet screen and immediately said she wouldn’t get another crosstrek bc of that. Subaru is great for simplicity but going to a large screen, that’s apparently very laggy and buggy, means they’ll lose customers like my partner.

One thing to point out though. Nobody else’s all-wheel-drive system is a true all the time all wheel drive system. Their front wheel drive biased, and they don’t work at all speeds. It’s not a Jeep, but if you are somebody who is prone to go into sketchy areas to access trails, andfishing streams, like myself, and especially in snow at all speeds, nobody comes close to Subaru, all-wheel-drive.

With the higher interest rates of today, these Subaru’s need a hybrid option to stay relevant and cost effective. I am a Subaru lover and so is my father but I had to settle with a Toyota and he will probably do the same. There is a void in any car company’s line up today without hybrid as an option. I don’t really think it makes sense anymore to pay $500+ a month for 30-35mpg avg sedan/crossover. A 4,250lb Toyota Tacoma v6 is not that far off at 20-26mpg stock which is crazy considering how different and old these trucks are. These basic pedestrian cars should return incredibly good range to offset its basic non enthusiast nature. I truly think value is in hybrid cars now. Got to move with the time Subaru!

@@Das_Germaican I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the touch screen, I just don't like how big it is (like a lot of other people). For me, I will opt for the base model with the split screens. However, I would still rather just one small screen and hard buttons for the HVAC.
