QotD: I don't think this counts, since the games never entered development, but the two sequels to Xenosaga II (which are also the prequels to Xenogears and Xenosaga III) were planned. I'd love to see the games (re)made with some modern JRPG conveniences. This game looks fun. I don't mind the zaney instructions and obtuse, complex strategy. It definitely has that llamasoft charm.

I picked this for 16 pounds against my better judgement and have played about an hour. I like it. The price point is gonna be the deal breaker for a lot of people though, if people want a cheaper minter experience, moose life is half the price. I fear that this price point will lead to low sales, justifying a lack of a future Atari Minter relationship. (The options have a subdued visuals which make the tutorials easier to understand) Love your reviews, have done for years.

Dan Ku Ga, the unreleased update/semi-sequel to taito’s metaphorical “hat” to the fighting game genre, Kaiser knuckle. While it’s gaining traction by being featured in the egret ii mini, I feel in order for it to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of the upcoming SF6, it probably needs a remake as opposed to a port

I find Llamasoft's games fascinating, but some of them do get a bit too excessive with the flashing - when even your tutorial messages flash in all colours, you should be aware that you've gone too far. Still intrigued to give it a go - ever since I first tried the madness that is Ancipital on the Commodore 64 as a kid, I knew would never need to use drugs as long as Llamasoft kept pumping out games. QotD; Fans are already at it and rebuilding the 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever from the leaks of last year. I'm more hyped for that than I am for almost any announced new game. But for something that isn't happening - if someone were to unleash Prey 2 on us, I would have a heart attack from the pure, concentrated joy.

I snagged it on the Atari VCS. Fun game. I'm liking all the Atari remakes!

I bought it for the VCS as well. Do you prefer playing with the classic or the modern controller?

I would strongly suggest NOT buying this on Steam after the way Llamasoft screwed up Tempest 4000. The game was released unplayable and the patch was unplayable still and half of the problems in the original release did not get fixed in the patch.

You mentioned Arcade, so had a look, and sure enough, a Prototype of Akka Arrh is on MAME. I bookmarked it, check it out later, and if I like it, maybe I'll consider buying this. As for the question, is one unreleased game that I could think of that I wish was released, though not sure if it would be needing a remake or not as it wasn't all that long ago, but GamerGirl. If only the Devs did like Hogwarts Legacy did, and ignored the woke people, went forward as planned, I'll be able to play it, but nope, canceled, and just left me wondering what could have been. **sigh**

The original Akka Arrh ROM is in the Atari 50 compilation, and I found it really hard to get into. I agree with the test audience at the time, the game was far too difficult for 1982.

Not to pit reviewers against reviewers but your review is educated, balanced and obviously strives for some objectivity. On the other hand, the review over at Noisy Pixel is nothing but a biased opinion piece, masquerading as a review. Their take is that it's just a confusing mess that should have been left on the drawing room table. Worse is that their response over at NP is always "Don't care. We're perfect. Everyone is a critic" which is a bad attitude to take when a review of theirs sticks out like a sore thumb, compared their normal work.
