It is also a sign that this guy is super biased against IKEA products. He clearly states that he hates these products almost right off the bat. For instance, when he says that the glass french press looks flimsy, it in fact is not (and does not). Several persons in the comments have commented that they have used theirs for years and it's going strong. I can attest to that, it does the job and it won't break unless you drop it on hard floor of course. But it's definitely not flimsy. At least, we know that the products he doesn't hate are actually very good quality.

Judging from other comments, it was really sturdy. So if someone bought it, they wouldn't need another again for years. IKEA's ground organic coffee and espresso are okay enough -- we find the flavour on the mild side. Can't beat their price point for organic products though... big fan of their Lingonberry jam, for example. Have the IKEA French press (black plastic with glass) and the fully metal pour-over. The French press is still going strong years later (with no chips or signs of failure) -- the pour-over is new to us and great for single cups. (And yes, the metal bits are designed to come apart for ease of washing individual components.) We have a high quality Italian stovetop espresso doodad for guests who are more serious about their morning coffee experience... that said, most are perfectly fine with the other methods.

I picked up a French press at IKEA as a temporary replacement and I actually like it. It’s not the best, but it does produce a decent coffee. A little more grounds make it through the filter and I don’t especially care for the plastic, but it served its purpose quite well until I found a more decent replacement. Hi James, the reason you're having trouble with the metal pour-over 'funnel' is because you used a paper filter. If you had used the included metal filter, the ridges on the funnel lifts it slightly away from the sides, allowing water to drain better. When you use paper, it sticks to the side too much and forcing the liquid to drain only through the small hole at the bottom.

One thing I do like about the moka pot is that it's stainless steel and not aluminium. You are not supposed to drink acidic liquids like coffee from an aluminium container. I myself picked up two for making cold brew, since buying a couple Bodum’s when I wasn’t even sure I would like the French press for cold brewing seemed a bit expensive 😆.
