I’m looking for a body camera I can use on walks in case something crazy goes down like crazy dogs, crazy drivers, crazy people…. It’s a crazy world. Would you suggest this, an action camera, or a police/security guard type of body camera? Usually walk at night under street lights. Thanks

It is very frustrating how neglected this bodycam market is. They can absolutely make a great 2k camera with very good stabilization and dynamic range, but for some reason no one does.
@nothingbutgadgets
2 жыл бұрын
I agree, but I think the issue is price. How much would such a device cost to produce? I think the best and smallest camera you are gonna get with stabilization is a GoPro or GoPro Max. There may be others but none of them are gonna be as cheap as $50.
@jupitereye4322
2 жыл бұрын
@@nothingbutgadgets I am not too sure about the cost of production. It may have been an issue some years ago, but in today's market, it should be a pretty straightforward thing to produce in 2021/22. Camera sensors are cheap, memory is not expensive. Stabilization is no longer an issue, it is largely done by a programmable chip. The only issue maybe all of that in a rugged form, shock resistance, and mud/water resistance. But even then, I don't see why wouldn't they be able to produce something that is close to military-grade but with a higher price tag. Even if it costs 200-400$, but it seems like there is literally nothing but cheap stuff. Some of these devices shouldn't even cost as much, they really should cost below 50$. I don't know, I really think this market sector is neglected.

@@jupitereye4322 Have you thought about just using an older version of a smartphone? Something like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. That phone takes amazing 4k video and has really good stabilization. Sure it is bigger, but you can get one for under $100 off eBay. I have several that I use for B-roll footage in my videos.
@jupitereye4322
2 жыл бұрын
@@nothingbutgadgets I have of course, and that seems to be a decent solution I guess. The battery is not as good of course, especially because the screen is on the whole time, the batteries themselves are a bit older. But, I think perhaps the next generation of smartphones would make the current ones obsolete, which would then make a decent option for bodycams. I may just take your advice and buy something on eBay, that seems to be a good idea.

Not looking for one that does in complete darkness. Just wondering how grainy the picture gets indoors during the day at 1080p. Also comparing this to my other small cameras I have. Most these cameras work pretty well outdoors. Price also looks good. Anyway, thank you for your video and take care.

Low light video is going to have significant artifacts on this camera due to the small sensor size. But this is going to be true of any small camera. It is a law of physic thing. The only way to improve low light performance is by increasing the sensor size, which cannot be done on tiny devices like this.

My reason for acquiring a camera of this sort is for a time when you have an encounter with a scumbag. If you have to use self defense, then you have a measure of proof if self defense was necessary.
