Thanks. But honestly, vbrakes always works depending on - how new theay are - how clean both pads and rim are - humidity percentage in the air/water - Skill of the mechanic that mount it - First brake hard, than readjust the breake. The stand, just change it. Put a back one.

Hi. Thanks a lot for your great review.. Question please.. after 2 years now, do you still recommend this bike for this amount of money? is there any better choice for this budget range (plus/minus 200 euros for example)?
@TheCheapBikeChannel
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you - good question! I don't - as I still cannot use a kickstand, and even when the bike is propped against a wall, it still falls over because it is too heavy at the back. The only e-bikes I saw around this price are Chinese ones from Amazon / Alibaba. For a bit more money - 1900 euros - the RadWargon bike looks good, if you have to carry one or two kids each day, and all their bags. Good luck!

@@hazemshoep Hello! Yes I tried the double kickstand - I think I've bought the whole URSUS range =) The bottom bracket just seems to be too high from the ground. Try going to a hypermarket like Carrefour, Makro, or your local version, for other budget e-bikes.

@TheCheapBikeChannel

The 920 is 500 euros more. It only has front suspension, but has disc breaks instead of rim ones. The woman's version with a low bar may be easier to get on and off. Yes you can put a basket on this bike, or the carrier bags, or a square basket on the back rack using plastic ties. Best wishes

@@TheCheapBikeChannel in Decathlon Germany I can see only 2 models for this original Electric series: Riverside 900 E original and Riverside 920E Original which are basically the same but with a fix on the machine jerkiness on the latter (more intuitive assistance), prices are €890 vs €970 respectively. Then there is Elop 920 E and also Riverside 920 (diff model, not original series) for €1500 or so. Yesterday I ordered the original 920 E- Which one is yours? Ty

Hi, a question. Have you tried putting 24v battery from your 500 into 920? Those seem to have the same cases. The reason I'm asking is because I have the 500 and im thinking about buying the 920. Would i be able to use other battery ad a spare?
@TheCheapBikeChannel
2 жыл бұрын
Hi - nice idea, but I don't want to try it in case it damages any of the components. Also, how would you charge the battery? Using the 24v charger in the 920? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work (I've tried this on other bikes)... So then you'd have to remove the battery each time and put it back in the 500 to charge it, which could get annoying. Let me know if you go ahead with this though and it works! Good luck!

@@TheCheapBikeChannel I was thinking of using 500's battery as a backup for the 920. In case I run out of power halfway through my trip. Just to be able to get to the destination. Last year my girlfriend and I went on a 200 km trip on electric bikes. In quite difficult mountainous terrain. I had my own (self-made) 1kW e-bike with a 15kWh battery, and my girlfriend was riding her 500. We divided the route into four sections of 50 km, and usually were ending rides on "fumes". Having a backup battery (even low voltage) would have been nice. btw, 500 after putting on trekking tires and a shock absorber under the saddle becomes an MTB bike. :P Charging is not a problem, just have 2 chargers with you, 24v and 36v. It won't hurt to put a 24v battery into a 36v system. The worst that can happen is that your bike sees this as a dead battery. :) From what I saw in the Decathlons video (Controller replacement) it has an ananda mc5-b0 controller. Which is a 36 / 48V controller. I was hoping it was a 24 / 36v controller. A 36/48v controller likely won't work with a 24v battery. It seems like my best option would be to sell the 500 and just buy the 920 and a spare 36v battery.

Thanks for the review You mentioned brakes of Decathlon bikes are not great. Is this the case for their regular bikes too? Have you looked at Schwinn E- bikes? In my opinion, they have better specs but higher price range. I would love to get an e-bike but being in North America metropolitan, I would stay away and stick with regular bicycles. The theft is high here. Enjoy your ride.

Hi - for the budget non-electric 'btwin' or rockrider' bikes from Decathlon i.e. under €250/300, yes their brakes aren't great either. Seems to be cheap parts, though a lot can depend on the final assembly and checks done in the shop. I have a Schwinn regular bike, with hydraulic disc brakes - it works great =) I wouldn't buy a brand name e-bike, in case someone broke into my garage and stole it! =)

Yes you can pull the battery out once you unlock it. Try gripping it from the back end of the battery where the charge light is, and wiggling it to get it out. Removing the battery means you can charge it separately from the bike, and is a security advantage.

I have just bought this, and one thing that strikes me (having not been on a bike in 20 years), it's ridiculously wobbly. Is that just because of the rear suspension set up, and it not being a solid frame? I dont have a tool that will fit the rear spring right now, but would adjusting that make it feel more stable/safer, or is this just a characteristic that will always be there? Going around a bend can be scary AF with it flexing like a noodle.
