Ow, $50 bucks - or $70, and you risk investing that on something with a 2 year old battery (and possibly other wear/degradation), ow! I see your model's full (new) replacement is $140 or $155 and up though. I used to suffer with foils and the cost too, even Panasonic with their quality; then got a good Norelco Triple Head - I accepted reality and got the $90 one (now $160) instead of the lame (now $30) ones, and that was a big win. 14 years - well, so far! Battery now won't hold charge so I it's now a corded model :) I just weekly brushed hairs off blades with the soft brush, under a minute and childs play to do, and blades never wore down - still cuts like new. (It even came with a solution and cleaning bay, which I never even used once. I still just use the brush.)

Good info Bill, I will have to check that out next, you're right it's so expensive for the foil it's almost like you wonder if you should like you said buy a new one or replace the foil I thought since I replaced the foil it has the other little pieces with it so I could use those, but I really have been disappointed in the arc 5 because the four only lasted about 2 years and the arc 4 they lasted the lifetime of it like over 5 years.

I have that Norelco, I think it's 6600 series, wet/dry and Li-Ion battery, received as gift like 4 years ago, replaced blades once with included extra set. I was opening to brush out inside and realized it was wet dry so now I rinse the blades and inside. I've seen others where people complain that they stop working and find gunked up rotary heads from never cleaning, the blades ultimately seize. The Li-Ion charge lasts a long time, very impressed in this day of making things that die fast (planned obsolescence).

Now that this review is a few months old, any updates on if these stayed as sharp as the original WES set? Reviews on Amazon are mixed.

I am wondering about these blades. I switch out once a year. The last pack seems to have given me an allergic reaction. It took two weeks to heal. I love the Arc 5 but I need to find a better source for replacement foil and blades.

Thank you for sharing your experience, sorry to hear about the allergic reaction. I just bought that one set that was in the video and have still been using them and haven't had any problems.

Has anyone tried the Arc 6 (made in Japan)? I tried it and it pulled several hairs- shed too much blood! The trimmer did work better than the Arc 5, but not worth it for the price- back to previous model.

Good information, thank you 👍🏻. I enjoyed the arc 4 for many many years and never had to change the blades or foil,. I really enjoy the arc 5 it's a little better but I'm disappointed that the foils only lasted about 2 years.

How does it work with just two blades? I figured you'd need at least 4 blades for those outer 4 foils not just two?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Like the guy said above, there are 3 blades built into the head and then 2 blades attached to the shaver.

@@JohnDanielsthe 3 on the heads are just foils. How are they able to cut?

@@pytube777 there's three blades that go on the razor itself and then they go into the foils

Just checking after 1 year, if the foil is still good or if you already have problems with it?

Do you always replace the foil and cutter at the same time, or do you sometimes just replace the cutter and keep the foil? My foil doesn't have any damage to it.
@JohnDaniels

Exactly, you could do it either way and then use the other parts later

@@JohnDaniels I went ahead and replaced the foil and the cutter. It feels like a new razor! The manual says to replace the foil every year and the cutter every two years.
