This is a great informative video. One of the best Kayak Boat explanation videos we have seen. And we have seen a few. Thank you for creating.

thanks for very good video. Are the valves push push? Does it deflate and fold down into the bag easily? Thanks
@gmurphy

Thanks. Yes, the valves are push in/push out type Halkey Roberts. Deflation is fast, and it fits in the bag easily (if anything, the bag needs tighter straps).

@@gmurphy that's helpful thanks. i was heading towards a Gumotex Ruby XL then came across your video. Yours seems to have some advantages not least cost. Can it be paddled like a kayak or rowed ? Is it strong material? Thanks
@gmurphy

@@ephs145 Yes, it comes with oars for rowing. I have tried to row it: it is much much faster than rowing a SIB, but not as easy as a "proper" kayak. It is made out of 0.9mm PVC, so the same material as most SIBs. I just read about the Ruby. The Ruby seems to pack down slightly smaller for the same size, but the Boatworld kayak boat also has the high-pressure dropstich floor (9psi, so it's hard like a SUP), v-keel and is Cat C (so rated for use at sea with up to 2m waves), and of course has a much nicer price.

@@gmurphy thanks so much for that. Think I'll go for one of these with the ePropulsion motor. Is the extra short shaft a good size? could you get 2 adults plus a dog onboard the 365? Last question please. Do you find it very heavy to carry deflated and packed? Thank you.
@gmurphy

@@ephs145 No problem. Yes, the XS size is perfect for these (it is what I use). The 365 I would say is "two adults with kit, just", it may be worth considering the 435 (unless the dog is tiny). I find it pretty easy to move around (it's only 30kg, just an awkward shape which throws you a little off-balance). I would imagine the majority of people would be fine to carry it for short distances. If you plan on carrying a long way a trolley may be helpful.

cheers that's a helpful video. My SIB is knackered and thinking about replacing it with a kaboat. want something easier to launch by myself. Is there enough space on transom for launch wheels or would they obstruct the steering? Reckon its less hassle to launch by yourself up a steep shingle beach than a small ish (3.1m) SIB?
@gmurphy
2 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes it is much easier than a SIB in my experience. I use a small/cheap kayak trolley with straps, and load the weight on the carrying end so the wheels don't dig in. Being lighter and narrower makes it much more managable. I have also seen someone flip a kaboat over and carry it above their head (taking the motor seperately of course)! It's a bit tight for both transom wheels and an outboard because when the wheels are in the "up" position - they get in the way of the motor body (powerhead): but I have seen some people set up kaboats so that the transom wheels are held with chain half way up (so they are out the water, but not as high as the powerhead). The transom is 39cm at the narrowest point.

Hey just me again, another couple of questions please if you don't mind. Is the floor built into it, if so is it flat or v shape or has it got a separate inflatable floor that fits inside. And is thier any room on the Transom for narrow fold up launching/1 man pulling the boat wheels? Thanks.
@gmurphy
6 ай бұрын
The floor is removable - and flat. The v shape is made by a keel tube which sits under the floor. Transom wheels may be possible depending on the outboard - but it's very tight. I have seen some solutions where the wheels are stored 2/3 the way up on some chain so that they don't interfere with the rotating outboard body, but nothing "off the shelf". I use a small folding kayak trolley/cart for solo launching. You can get them very cheap. They just strap on, and do the job really well (retighten the straps after the first few meters).

@@gmurphy Ok thanks for reply. I use a Yamaha MX18 Trolling motor and LiFePO4 battery for for very close inshore fishing up here in Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire, Rivers, lake district and canals. About 1/4 to half mile out here in RB depending on the conditions because its just a little bay but if you look on Google Earth parking the car is tricky so I would preferably need l transom wheels or other to take things etc when solo. Yes I've seen the kayak dollys/carts but that means I'd have to leave it or lock it up when I go out. Transom wheels are so much easier and would interfere with my motors shaft. Could I ask what are the dimensions of the Transom both Height and Width? I appreciate your time for answering my questions because Boatworld are not interested in answering my questions which is a little sad really.

@@markweatherall7437the kayak cart I use is tiny - not the trailer looking ones: literally just adding wheels on. I just stick it in the boat (if you take the wheels off it takes nearly no room - but I'm often too lazy as there is tonnes of room when solo). This sort of thing: www.amazon.co.uk/ASMSW-Carrier-Adjustable-Carrying-Kayaks/dp/B0928RYSG3/ Hopefully I will be out again on it next weekend - I will measure the transom then. I know it's 39cm high in the middle, but I don't have the width measurements to hand. Annoying that boatworld aren't answering, they were replying to me when I bombarded them with questions mid last year.

Great video and thanks for sharing, I noticed lastnight Boatworld do a '435' longer 3 man version, interesting, il check it out and make my mind up because there's only 2 of us ever going out at any one time but thinking of the 3 man for more room but obviously more money to buy. Could I ask are these whats sonetimes called Kaboats? Technical half Kayak and half boat? And Could I also ask what operating pressure (PSI) inflation is the floor and what operating PSI are the Tubes please?
@gmurphy

Thanks! Yes, the 435 version looks great also, I mainly went for the 365 due to the smaller packed size. Yeah, they are basically kaboats. The tubes are 3.75 psi, the floor is 9 psi, and the keel is 4.5 psi.

@@gmurphy yes I just read on the Boatworld website that the 365 is 5kg less than the 435 but I don't know the differences in packaging size differences. Do you mean the box or overall deflation size etc?
@gmurphy
6 ай бұрын
@@markweatherall7437the overall defalation size. Annoyingly boatworld uses the same box for the 435 and 365 - so it's hard to judge the actual deflated size difference. I did ask them before I purchased, and they said that it entirely depends on how you roll it up - but roughly 3-5cm smaller in all dimensions.

@@markweatherall7437they are Halkey Roberts style valves: I'm not sure what make but they are the push-style ones (rather than twist), and fit the new/shorter Halkey Roberts adapters.
