just found your channel by searching for Midoris. Now I see: you review fountain pens also! Great channel. I have this Lamy 2000 since 1985. The macrolon is now shiny after 30 years of continuous usage. And I really use it every day since the 80s, when I started with this pen while I was in school. Meanwhile I bought a new one with the smallest width, because I also found an very old "Schulkaweco" from my wifes grandfather, which had also such a very narrow feather, that I simply had to get a Lamy 2000 with a narrow feather. Kaweco, was once produced in the town I live, Wiesloch, near Heidelberg in Germany, while Lamy is still in production in Heidelberg. Quite a fountain pen-region here ;-) Greetings from Germany

In high school I only wrote with cheap FP and then drifted away from them. I am back only writing with FP now since I have acquired my Midori Notebooks. I have been collecting since about 8 months FP, inks, notebooks. It makes my writing experience much more better. I had missed writing with FP so much. I buy my FP from low end to a bit high end. My newest addition is the Pelikan M400, which is very nice. But I do write a lot with my Lamy Safaris also. I like to use them all. I am so glad you reviewed this pen because I have been looking at it for a while on The Goulet Pen site. I might eventually get it. Very nice pen. I think that there is place for anyone on yt to review FP and you should continue to do so. I always learn something while watching anyone reviewing FP. I also bought the same ink as you and I like it a lot. Nice color. I am French and you said Mont Blanc very well.

Stuff&Things Thanks for the reply, I still have to watch you review on this beautiful pen. Some are a real piece of Art.

Hey, Bradley! I'm a pen guy who's just gotten interested in pipes, so this was a treat! Came across your videos a couple of months ago and have been really enjoying them. Your unboxing of the Castello 55 was great, beginner pipe videos are really helpful, and your eBay experiences are priceless. I bought the Peterson pipe lighter on your recommendation and it was right on the money. (Couldn't find an engine-turned one anywhere, so went for the plastic, which was kinda slippery to hold, so had a little craft project covering it with kid leather -- worked out quite well.) The Lamy looks like a nice pen. The piston-only filling system appeals to the purist in me. No cartridges, no converters, just good old bottled ink. I don't buy modern pens too often, not out of snobbery but just because vintage pens are so much more interesting to me, and there's some cool crossover with pipes, since they use hard rubber. Your Lamy probably has a hard rubber feed, but '20s pens were made entirely of hard rubber ('vulcanite' to pipe guys), and you'll find Watermans in red and black hard rubber that look just like Dunhill Cumberland stems. Thanks for the great videos, and keep 'em coming! Rob Morrison www.vintagewriting.com

Another interesting video. My 14 year old son asked for a fountain pen for Christmas! He was intrigued by some old pens in my desk, and wanted his own. Not willing to spend $100+ on a pen he was probably going to break or loose in short order, I bought the Lamy Safari which is very inexpensive, and he loves it! I love fountain pens as well, but they have some draw backs for me. The first is that, as a left hander, my writing style tends to occasionally smear the wet ink as I write. The second problem that I have--with writing in general-- is that I tend to write too fast which leads to errors. The fluidity of the fountain pen seems to exacerbate the problem! Once again, nice vid and happy scribbling!

Great review! This is easily one of my favorite pens. It's usually good practice to let a drop of ink out after filling in order to leave some room in the reservoir for ink to expand into, not to prime the feed. As the pen warms up in your hands, the ink will expand, so it needs room, or it'll drop out of the nib. Because you've filled the pen through the feed, it is already primed.
@stuffandthingsyoutube

Roughly, 6 months back I bought a super cheap fountain pen. I enjoy using it once in a while. The reason for buying it was that I found some interesting notebooks where the covers reminded me of "The Old Man and the Sea". Just seemed like the correct thing to do was write in them with a fountain. It is interesting how folks gravitate to specific things, i. e. Pipe smoking, minecraft, elegant writing tools, etc. Congrats on such an interesting and well versed channel.

Thanks! I've remarked on the "gravitational pull" of certain things for certain people myself. For me, I think it's just the appreciation of things that take a little extra time and a little extra effort. They just seem to be more worthwhile.

I can recommend Faber Castell fountain pens. Especially the beginner pens Basic and Loom come equipped with some of the best and smoothest steel nibs one can get since they use the same nibs they use for their higher end pens (ambition and up, though of course not the Graf von Faber Castell line...oh my holy grail...). Bradley, you mentioned letting the pen dry after washing. How long do you recommend to do this before refilling with ink?
