Thanks for the review. I did about 110 mi. on the AT this summer. I had been wondering if those poles were worth bothering with.

I ordered Leki aluminum from REI during a 20% sale. While still researching, ordered Zpacks carbon fiber for same price. Stumbled on Ozark Trails carbon fiber for 39.98. No brainer. Leki and Zpacks were returned.

Thank you for reviewing these. I’m on the market for a set of poles to do big hikes and I’ve been a bit nervous about their quality, with the idea you buy cheap you buy twice but I am more confident now that they will get the job done given that I’m a novice and there doesn’t seem to be any glaring design flaws

I always found a walking stick, old hills mountain man style. But bought a backpacking hot tent and needed two trekking poles to pitch. They work fine for that type of application. At 55 im still in shape and can backpack in rugged terrain, but maybe some day i would use for hiking. They seemed stable enough for a few hikes. I looked a some at Dicks Sports, at $80 and above, each, they didnt seem to much different than these Ozark Trail, the nut on the release did come loose , yet I seen that the over priced have the same potential to do that. As of three back country camps so far, to hold up a backpacking tent, they did the job just fine. Ill add this, I dont like hunter bright orange camping things, the clamp arms are that color. I intend on stealth camping so I have all subdued gear, A black wide sharpie is the solution.

I have these poles. Only issue was the one cork grip kind annoyed my hand. I fixed that with a sanding block. I really expected them to not last too long, be heavy, any not so well made. They're holding up great on the rocky crap that is all of PA hiking trails. They're not heavy at all and surprisingly they're well made. It would be nice if they came in two sizes. As is, they don't collapse small enough to fit in most luggage, if you're going to travel with them. Diagonal in the bag they will fit. Of course all dependent on the size of your luggage. So, yeah, $20 these things are a total bargain and you shouldn't be disappointed.
