Nice dryers overall and very efficient, and fairly quick for a heat pump dryer - though they are very overpriced at full retail price. The ticking noise is endemic on all Miele dryers, a shame as they would be beautifully quiet otherwise. In regards to the filter really no need to waste money replacing them (not to mention the environmental impact this would have on landfill) - just wash them through on a cold express wash and that reactivates them, they are actually designed for this and the manual advises this :). BTW the doors are reversible in these models, it’s only the chrome ones that are fixed.

Wouldn't replace the filter honestly. When I had mine, washed it out under the sink in 30sec. Did that once a month or so. Could just chuck it in the machine on a cool express cycle aswell if you couldn't be bothered.

The Miele plinth filters may be more expensive but they can be washed under the sink or machine washed over and over.

I have been looking at these for 2 weeks and waiting for black Friday. I'm going to order one

Vacuuming the filter won‘t remove all the residue. Rinsing is the best option. You can change the opening on this model. Only machines with the chrome door don‘t have this option.

Since 2024, Miele has launched a number of tumble dryer models with one carbon brush at the back of the drum and a metal strip (residual moisture sensor) near the fluff filter, so no more two (hard) clicking carbon brushes on top of the drum: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qm2ix6SMsZNko6Q 125 Edition TCC660WP 11/2023 125 Edition TCC670WP 12/2023 125 Edition TEC665WP 12/2023 125 Edition TEC675WP 12/2023 125 Edition TSC663WP 12/2023 125 Edition TWC660WP 12/2023 Excellence TEC665WP 12/2023 Excellence TEC675WP 12/2023 Selection TSC663WP 12/2023 TCA 220 WP 12/2023 AU TCC 660 WP 11/2023 TCC 670 WP 12/2023 TEC 665 WP 12/2023 TEC 675 WP 12/2023 TSC 663 WP 12/2023 TWA 229 WP 08/2023 DE TWC 660 WP 12/2023

🤨 ~ [as 2 commentators have said] I would prefer to vacuum/rinse the 2nd lower filter (in front of/before the “dehumidifier” unit) particularly if it is a fine sponge type as you can (safely) rinse them [what I like about some bagless vacuum cleaners that have them as filters]. The only thing I didn’t like about that particular dryer was the rhythmic “tic-toc” noise the drum was making 😠 was it a timing device to the tumbling speed/a mechanical defect you haven’t found yet and fixed?

It's a mechanical defect that isn't getting worse or affecting performance. It's not 100% healthy. But 18 months in. It's not changed. The first sponge did get damaged while washing it. So got replaced. They are that cheap.

The ticking is due to worn carbon brushes contacting the drum. The carbon brushes are for moisture sensing, they form a connection with the paddles which have moisture sensors. The worn carbon brushes start making the ticking noise. Unfortunately they wear very easily, but it shouldn't affect performance.
