Review and comparison of three top lightweight full face MTB helmets on the market in 2021. With Smith Mainline, Endura MT500 and IXS Trigger FF, we look at MIPS technology, downhill certified status and compare the helmet fit, sizing, goggles and weight. All important considerations on enduro full face helmets!
If you want to skip to a specific helmet on it's own then in order we review and compare:
Intro and overview of helmets: 00:00
Endura MT500 helmet: 00:49
Smith Mainline helmet: insert time: 02:53
IXS Trigger FF helmet: 05:44
Quick MIPS reference: 08:58
We also look at goggle fit, closure mechanism (D lock or Fidlock magnetic lock), padding and line of vision amongst other features. We run go pro mounts on all the helmets no bother.
All helmets are DH certified and the second two have MIPS technology. IXS Trigger claims to be the lightest helmet out there at 595g with the Smith Mainline at 830g. Endura MT500 in between at 640g. Hard part is what is the best full face helmet to choose considering all these factors? We hope this review is useful to consider the different enduro full face helmets out there and the advantages/disadvantages of each.
We have both been riding these helmets on some of the most popular trails in the UK in the Tweed Valley. They have been properly tested and we were excited to share our thoughts on them. Previously Laura came from an old MET parachute helmet and Tomas came from the Endura helmet onto the Smith Mainline recently.
If you want to see more enduro riding and the trails around Scotland and the UK then check out our other videos and hit the subscribe button to stay up to date. We put out weekly content every Sunday at 5pm. We like doing these review videos periodically and the majority of our content is enduro riding and racing (when we can!).
Enjoy!
