Turned 50 last November and my wife of 30 years bought me one and I mounted a Trijicon 1-4×24 and this thing has been incredibly fun ,reliable and accurate.

This rifle is one that I'm pretty excited about. And now that I know about it, I feel a bit silly having an AR-15 chambered for 6.5 Grendel. .308 is much more available and about the same prices.

This could change the game on the MSR world. If you could get a 308 rifle that shoots well and is less than 10 lbs dressed out, It'll be a revolution

I was looking into a PSA AR-10 but idk, the SFAR looks interesting. AR15 weight with AR10 punching power.

@@anthonygerber8261 I'd spend the extra 200$. My buddy just about bought a PSA. But it was bone stock. The Ruger has b5 furniture. A muzzle brake. A almost match grade trigger. And much lighter weight gun. I convinced him to buy the Ruger

To me as a new shooter, within the last three years, .308 recoil isn’t a bother at all, as long as I extend the stock so the glass doesn’t blast me in the forehead. I LOVE my 308!

All the reviews I have seen on the SFAR are only 300 yards a 308 should hit that range is a given it’s not the wimpy 5.56 where can I find 400-500 ?? That being said this was the best vid out of 30 I have seen on showing accuracy at any range

Thanks for review. Looking seriously at this 16" in 308. Other caliber options are good simply because options are a good thing. 243 & or 6CM & 6.5CM for sure but the 6.8x51 is surely on the table.

You're experiencing the maximum amount of felt recoil with the regulator on setting "3." Ruger states that after the recommended break-in period of roughly 200 rounds, you should set the regulator on the lowest possible setting that the ammunition will cycle the rifle reliably.

I'm very convinced that ruger has in fact created the greatest AR 308 rifle ever. This rifle I firmly believe could easily be the next standard issue military infantry rifle. It's genuinely perfect for that application because of the gas system. It can be a single shot rifle, be a suppressed rifle or a standard battle rifle. I plan to use mine as my go to combat primary weapon, I'll be using Troy sights on mine but I'm wondering what optic I should use. I'm thinking an acog but I want something lightweight to keep this gun sub 8 pounds with munitions in it.

Would you recommend this to a person as their first 308? I'm looking at one and also need to pull the trigger quickly (pun intended) as I live in WA.

True up your scope, align the north south cant, level the crosshairs. That'll change your impacts even out to 300. Thanks for the review

I worry that the bolt face doesn't have enough metal to handle 308 beyond a few thousand rounds.

Taken from Ruger: "Bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined from high-strength super alloy steel that outperforms traditional C158 bolts. Tapered lug geometry further strengthens the breech to support larger short-action cartridges."

20 years ago I'd agree but I'm sure it "could" last more than the 5k any normal person would shoot in a lifetime. I'm sure 99% of the ar's in America have less than 5k 🤷♂️

It's possible of course but I have a POF with a 556 sized bolt and face and it's fired several thousand rounds of 308 just fine. Materials and heat treat make a world of difference

This weapon is a very good product. It's not that bad but my Springfield Saint Victor AR-10 .308 is not that much heavier than the SFAR I am going to say that it weighs just 4 tenths of a pound more and has a much better trigger and is dressed out in Bravo Co. furniture. Although the cost is approximately $400 more The SFAR in my opinion a cheap copy of the Springfield Saint.
