@CEO_of_cringe

Hughie not showing fear or desperate emotion is the whole point. He always thinks he's weak, especially you can see it in season 3. So he is trying his best to be brave and it was so good seeing someone who never blackmailed or manipulated someone actually succeeding at it (remember the part with Ezekiel or A-train), him standing up against Homelander when he was laughing at Starlight. Jack nailed this character so good. Amazing expressions, voice,, everything. Deserves an Amazing tier

Seems like you should’ve payed more attention to the roles these characters portrayed. Since you watched only for pure, by-the-book acting, you failed to realize what was supposed to be their own quirks that enhance who they’re supposed to be. As previously said, you missed that Hughie was supposed to be unnatural and “too little” worried in certain situations. He’s literally acting as a person who’s acting as a different person (Jack Quaid acting as Hughie who acts tougher then he truly is). Very few people can pull this off and Quaid did it perfectly. You were so objective in your analysis that you missed key, pivotal aspects of both the characters and the actors, which matters for their tier.

When good actors are acting they aren’t moving their eyebrows or quivering their lips on purpose. Acting isn’t thinking about it and actively deciding to do it, they are truly showing emotion. I do agree with a lot of these points on certain actors, but it also comes down to direction. When you said that butcher should have gotten in their faces a bit more in the supe victim meeting, it’s not like Karl is just deciding exactly how butcher is supposed to be. Sure, he’s the actor and he definitely puts his own spin on things, but the director gets the final say, and brings things like that up if it’s an issue.
@KoshoReviews
3 ай бұрын
I love ur comment I LIVE for this stuff, and yes I agree the director does have a lot of sway. I make suggestions more in the context of the SCENE and just in my opinion butcher would have had a more effective scene w more exaggeration (a pattern I tend to see that lacks), and yes acting for THEM isn’t about thinking but we can point to the elements that make their acting great etc…

okay dude a few tips since this clearly aint your thing... when hughie asked his dad to leave he CHOSE not to display fear as he wanted to keep the room as calm as possible. of course he was terrified, but he wanted his dad to remain calm and not do anything stupid. this is actually a pro for jack quaid and not at all a negative. secondly hughie aint the main character at all. there really isnt a definitive main character but both homelander and butcher take the center stage more than hughie. only season 1 could you say hughie might be the main character. also idk what your talking about with a-train being a comedic character. he's always been pretty serious, from being a main antagonist is season 1, to starting his redemption arc in season 3.

The thing is with hughie being compared to grant gustin in that scene is that zoom was a completely evil monster who killed without any emotion or motive, he hurt people for fun and barry knew that. He knew in that instant that his dad was dead so the only thing he could do was plead for his life. A train has a conscience, its not a strong one but he isnt evil, he’s just a celebrity who happens to have powers that could end people if he chooses. Hughies’ dad could potentially get hurt or killed if he doesn’t leave but if push comes to shove, it isn’t A trains style to just kill an innocent man without a strong motive, he didn’t have to plead for his dads life he just wanted him to be in a safer environment. That worry is understandable, especially from someone thats trying to act brave in front of his enemy and act strong in front of his dad, barry had gone past that point and was just desperate and powerless to save his dad, all he could do in that moment was beg.

I honestly feel like I would put Colby in either the “amazing” or “Oscar-worthy” performance section, her anxiety and meltdowns are so realistic and her acting is very detailed. The scene of her that you showed in your video is one of my favorite scenes with her , I loved how she goes from scared/vulnerable when she’s listening to starlight, to cold again. You could see that she was very afraid and wants to do the good thing, but fear takes over and then her emotions completely shut down as she tells starlight to get out of her office and “schedule a appointment next time”. During the transition, there’s a lot of micro acting on her face and her breath and you could feel all the thoughts racing through her brain and her closing off

I don't think Stillwell should be up there at all, but ok.. Starlight & Mauve should be on the same level as MM.

I’m fine with Hughie taking to their dad in season one. The point is to show that they have grown, and that they aren’t afraid anymore. They’re become stronger since the beginning of the season and are more in control of their life.

Has some people pointed out, thats how they where told to Act by the Director, Karl was told to Stand and talk and not get in there face, that's not a flaw on his talent, just doing his Job

The problem with Maeve is that she is was given terrible lines. Her every sentence is some shitty one liner that is meant to be like big words, but just sounds cheesy. I Felt bad for the actress

12:30 Maeve does not move nc she is super strong and cannot act on her emotions. She is afraid of hurting someone, thats why she is stiff. I think thats actually great acting
