There are so many other examples to show the readers that despite of the weak quirk or being quirkless, those who want to be a hero constantly train to be stronger and can defeat the villains. Come to think of it. If Deku's mom supported him to at least be tough, he would not have been bullied neither.

I still have the impression that the series as a whole is a bit more mid than good, but you did a pretty good job of getting me to appreciate certain aspects more than I did before. One thing that I still think the first part struggles from is how hard they leaned into Bakugo’s antagonism. I get the insecurity angle that drives him to lash out, but the extent to which he lashes out really calls into question whether or not he deserves “redemption”. In the video you said that the Final Exams arc was Bakugo at his lowest, and yeah he was an absolute piece of shit there, but I think his worst moment was his first hero training class against Deku. Bakugo shot a giant explosion at Deku, despite All Might ordering him not to on the basis that it would kill Deku, and despite the possibility killing or severely injuring Deku Bakugo shows no sign of introspection or reflection to indicate that he’s remotely regretful for taking such a risk just to boost his ego. It’s bad enough that it takes hundreds of chapters for Bakugo to bother apologizing to Deku, but for him to not even feel bad subconsciously for nearly killing somebody he knew since childhood really puts Bakugo’s characterization in a bad light.

Good work, but I think that constantly referring vaguely to "shonen tropes" and how MHA subverts them (you can probably find some shonen tropes that one moment subverts, but also some tropes that that same moment probably plays into), the review of a work should be mostly self-contained. Why is a moment satisfying within the narrative? Is it only in context of the larger shonen landscape that it "subverts"? Or can it stand on its own, and provide intriguing moments that are intriguing because of what has been set up within the narrative? I think MHA can stand on its own just fine.

I cant find any arc in act 2 that I dont like even tho I read most of it weekly while also having the behemoths of MVA, the war arc and gentles arc.act 3 already has a few misses imo stars and stripes villain hunt being short Idk why but also horikoshi seems to have fell out of the flow state he was in for the later act 2 arcs hopefully this final stretch delivers

To be fair at first when I started reading and watching this series I thought bakugo would end up being a villain I mean the trade of psycho good guy in anime is there but bakugo was way worse than most I felt however as the story progressed and I got older I noticed how realistic bakugos anger truly was some teenage boys are just angry for no real reason and he doesn’t really make them bad people per say it can but it doesn’t have to and I like that the writer look that route the one thing I do hate is how ICST was treated after being revealed as the “traitor” I don’t consider him a traitor because he did not want to be involved at all he was roped into it from a dumb mistake his parents made but AFO also threatened to murder everyone ICST loved and cared for and he is like 15 I assume if you were 15 and your parents made a dumb mistake maybe took money from the mob then the don looked you in the eyes and said “you work for me or I’ll kill everyone you love” you do what the fuck he says especially when they are as powerful as AFO you don’t say no to a man like that in that scenario ICST was the only TRUE hero he did what any smart hero would’ve done kept his mouth shut to save lives didn’t worry about the pride of “being a hero” and getting a LOT of people killed but also no one seems to villainize hawks for doing essentially the exact same thing but in favour of the heroes the difference of course being hawks had a choice he could’ve said no and let someone else go undercover he chose to do it because he believed he was doing the right thing ICST also believed he was saving lives and doing the right thing by keeping this secret that was clearly killing him inside then only to be treated as one of the worst villains it was disgusting really shows the black and white nature of “good and evil” in this series which I believe is one of the points not all “heroes” are “pure good” not all “villains” are “genuinely evil” some heroes do what they do for selfish reasons some villains do what they do for completely understandable and justifiable reasons
