Have you ever done an ultra distance cycling event? Or do you think I'm crazy thinking about doing more and more "extreme" distances?

That is one good looking piece of man-meat, that guy from WKG....But in all seriousness and I've told you this a 1000 times, without your videos I would have quit cycling. And that's also why I'm pretty sure, or at least hope, we will see a return of the king and you will find your cycling groove back. All hail, Marcus, bringer of passion!

Great video mate. I have to say - cyclists who think they are too cool to acknowledge you really piss me off. I've been known to chase them down just so I could put a pass on them and say a very slow, deliberate 'HELLO' as I pass them (whilst trying to disguise that I'm blowing out of my arse by that time). Setting your sights on an ultra goal is something I think everyone should try and, as you found, it really is one really good reason to get out of the door every day. A good few years back, I did coast-to-coast in a day (here in the UK) and, of course, there was a trot around an Ironman a few years back too. There's nothing like the day after hitting that big goal, sitting back and thinking, 'Shit - did I really do that!!!'. Good to see you getting your Mojo back mate and really interesting to hear all the background you gave here. Keep on riding mate.

I have never chased them down though, that's a whole other level 😂 And yes, my mojo is back in a big way. This week I actually added another goal to the list: I'm doing another ultra in September in France! 🥳

Hi Maarten, nice to see that your motivation is back. 👍🏻 I haven’t done an ultra distance cycling event. But I like crazy ideas. Big goals, I think that's what inspires us and pushes us forward. Plans… I would have loved to go on a bikepacking tour with a friend through the Bavarian forest. Five or six days. Unfortunately, he couldn't or couldn't imagine it. That's why I'm currently planning a tour on my own. Not as spectacular in terms of altitude metres as the Bavarian Forest. Maybe a tour from the centre of Germany to the northsea or maybe a tour in the Nederlands. I have seen some great Bikepacking routes on Komoot.

Mario! Yeah, I'm really getting back into things. Not really excited to do workouts, but very excited just to ride my bike. So, that's a good sign. Great plans you have! I'd love to do more bikepacking in Germany as well, I think there must be a lot of beautiful places to ride a bike. And let me know if you plan a tour in the Netherlands, I'd love to come look you up and shake your hand again.

@@MaartenOverweg Nice Plan. It would be a pleasure to meet you in person. And let me know if you ever plan a tour in Germany. Can you recommend a route? Maybe not so far from your home area, so that we could ride some miles together. By the way, have you used your tent more often now? I’m still not sure whether I should switch to the 2-person tent to have a bit more space.

@@mariokoch7801 What would you have in mind? How many days or km's? The Limburg Divide route is super nice or The Green Divide. Both are not super close to my house, but easy enough to get to for me to meet up. And of course, it's also easy to make a route that's closer to where I live. The tent: yes, I've used it on several trips now. I still want to make a review video about it. But in short: if I would have to choose now, I would get the 2-person version.

Another great video mate 🙂 I actually haven’t done a real ultra event, but I’ve done multiple long days events, like the NorthEast Gravel with a total distance of 390 kilometers and approx 6000 meters of elevation in three days. I have done this twice now so I guess I will have to go for a ultra event next year!😉

Thanks, Snorre! Mate, you are one of the best cyclists I know, so I'm pretty sure ultras are for you. That NorthEast sounds interesting! Don't know anything about elevation, but pretty sure it's gonna be hilly 😅

Hey Maarten, even wat anders...
@MaartenOverweg
Goeiemorgen!
